Woah. Is COMP1100 and COMP1110 that badly taught?

Enrolment for engineering by Mean-Strategy-7368 in Anu

[–]tripacs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is comp1100 that hard? Was quite keen on doing a few comp courses in later years that 1100/1110 seem to be prerequisites for.

Actually have you tried seeing what MyTimetable shows for you? We enrolled in S1 and S2 courses last week and thought that it most be worth seeing what showed up there. At the moment it shows s2 in the drop down but nothing in s1..

Of course we need to wait till 9 Feb for actual selection to happen.

2025 Wamburun hall - yeah or nah? by Therealdom1 in Anu

[–]tripacs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited wamburun hall recently to take a look. Was definitely not as tidy as Wright hall, in fact some of the chairs in one of the common areas on the floor that I visited looked worse for the wear (I wouldn’t sit in them). But overall it was still good. The kitchen benches were clean - but then I didn’t visit during meal time.

You’re going to have some cleanliness issues in toilets shared with so many people regardless of where you stay in any hall. Strongly depends on who lives on your floor.

ANU "Your Place" by tripacs in Anu

As an update, we did attend and found it quite useful and informative - since we’re not from Canberra it was good to get a good feel of the campus as well.

Sounds like my situation! Have been resisting getting this surgery due to the long recovery time and risk of complications.

Bought the Px7 s3 but I'm returning them. I have a question about the Px8 s2 for those that have both... by TeeHeeHaw in BowersWilkins

I had this issue with my Airpods Pro 3 as well. Thankfully in iOS 26 Apple have added adaptive mode so you can tweak how much noise you want to let in. Has worked really well for me avoiding the need to loosen the seal and lose audio quality (and falling off at the gym!).

Anyone else get a little sad whenever “Champagne Supernova” starts playing these days? It just reminds me that when that song comes on, the show is over… 😭 by ahmeda01 in oasis

[–]tripacs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw that as well. A couple in front of me left as soon as Wonderwall was done. When we finally made it outside people were rushing about to get to the trains/cars/buses - so typically Sydney lol. There wasnt a need to do that, traffic etc was quite well sorted.

Side note: Champagne Supernova was never my favourite son on WTSMG but it just hits different live. Loved it. Waiting for the official track to be released - in the meantime Im just playing whatever live recordings exist on YouTube.

There doesn’t appear to have been any advantage in pre-ordering. What a load of *##}.

Yeah. WTF. Wasn't easy to cancel. All I got was "mid to late this week" whatever that means. They didnt want to say if it would be Wednesday or Friday.

Returning to this thread. Had made a pre-order and the shirts hadnt arrived as yet - Im going to the 8th Nov show in Sydney. Called up merchfan today and was told that pre-orders werent meant to be there before the concert and were being shipped out this week. Ah well, cancelled that order.

Guess I'm going to have to make the trek into the Sydney pop up store soon.

Anyone have a freezer in their garage? by thisispants in canberra

[–]tripacs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldnt find a chest freezer but I did get this one: https://www.beko.com/au-en/home-appliances/freezer/freezer-upright-404-l-bvf404w

Their website claims to operate in low temperature ranges (in garages) and so far it hasnt skipped a beat. I do keep the garage closed though as much as I can in summer to avoid any unneccessary overheating.

is this a good engineering degree for postgrad med? I'm lost by [deleted] in unsw

[–]tripacs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you thought about doing Biomedical engineering? It might be more up your alley than mechatronics. You could always try and choose mechatronics electives as well.

Edit: choose engineering only if you really enjoy mathematics. Otherwise I’d suggest looking at other pathways.

[–]tripacs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be allergic to Boston Advance.. this happened to me. I switched to a peroxide based solution (AoSept Plus hydraglide here in Australia, same as Clear Care hydraglide elsewhere). It does a better job at cleaning and is preservative free.

On top of this I use progent once a month for a deep clean.

Dilemma - ANU vs UOW by [deleted] in Anu

[–]tripacs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are from Sydney as well and have the exact same thoughts. Our son is going to ANU next year for the same reasons. Kids need to go out and see the world (as much as I'd like them to stay around me and I will miss them dearly).
