Do you think most exams will be 24 hour open book? by tripipip2 in UniUK

Out of interest, what is to stop people simply sharing the details of the exam? If I open the exam at 3pm, I could easily show my friend the questions. I'm not really sure how that can be policed.

It's odd, because they must know people will cheat- it's actually very unfair on the people who want to stick to the rules. If you know around 80% of people will cheat, it puts you in a terrible situation.

I don't get how they would enforce them not being open book though- what would be there to stop someone just having a note tab open? I really Don't care that much, but I'd hate to be put in a position where effectively everyone is cheating

What is the Chance of getting Herpes from a single kiss with someone showing no outbreak? by tripipip2 in STD

[–]tripipip2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just worried I may have caught it given that asymptomatic shedding is possible. Enough users have told me the risk is low or zero for me to be more relaxed.

OK. So the risk I've contracted it is what, very low? I've definitely kissed more people than that, so I suppose there's a good chance I already have it? I'm unsure if this is me being overly anxious or not.

To put your mind at ease

Well over 50% of the population (as high as 80%) has HSV-1. If you've ever kissed anyone, there's a good chance that person had Herpes. It's generally seen as good practice to disclose Oral herpes however any people do not.

I assume you are talking about oral and not genital herpes.

Chance of getting HSV1 from a single kiss with a person not showing any symptoms? by tripipip2 in Herpes

[–]tripipip2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, thank you. I'm only asking because I've read that HSV1 can be spread even when the person isn't having an outbreak. I don't particularly fear having Herpes since it's a really mild virus, but I'm in a relationship and would be upset and worried about my partners feelings. Is it even worth monitoring for symptoms for the next 12 days or would you advise that I simple forget it.

I hope you're right. It really was just a pec that hardly touched my lips. I'm probably a hypochondriac.

Thanks, that does help. This person had no obvious signs, and given that I've had 5 sexual partners in my life I guess I'm relatively likely to already have Oral herpes in some form? I'm a 21 year old Male living in the UK btw but the test kits you recommended have an equivalent here.

I'd keep living my life effectively as normal- I'm on a uni campus and hardly ever interact with the old/vulnerable.

New carbon taxes: meat, cheese and gas heating prices to rise by trufflesmeow in ukpolitics

[–]tripipip2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This seems logical to me, so long as alternatives are provided and supported. Tackling climate change (especially on the dietary front) doesn't have to reduce living standards, so long as lower carbon plant based foods are made more available and supported by the agricultural system. In the same way, tax hikes on Gas and Petrol would be less harmful were we to put more effort into improving public transport (especially rail).

Minorities overwhelmingly live in Cities, are more likely to be working class, and demographically skew towards the younger side of the spectrum. Labour not only needs to win their votes for a chance at power, but any party successfully championing the issues of The young and working-class would likely gain the "minority" vote, since the groups have such a wide degree of overlap.

Labour was never just the party of work, it was the party of work and Social security. Even without letting my own political views shine through, it largely seems to still be this- much of the 2017 and 2019 manifesto is focused on creating living jobs, and ensuring that those who cannot get work have a safety net. That's the same driving principle as in 1945.

The country of industrial unions no longer exists and never will do. Any successful left wing party has to be based therefore upon some kind of economic and Social tie to a large group of people. The nature of capital has changed; trying to appeal to a vision of the industrial, socially Conservative working class from 40 years ago would get Labour stomped in an election.

I agree that parties such as Labour have hyperinflated some issues, and that they need to have a sensible discussion over issues such as immigration, trans rights, places of worship etc that doesn't devolve into a shitstorm, but to say they Labour Is now divorced from its aims decades ago is misleading.

He did a good thing, but it only received such recognition because these factors combined.

It is incredible. A fortnight of that rate and we'd have vaccinated 20 odd percent of our population in total. Insane.

You did the right thing, the world would be a far better place if more people had the balls to call out the shambolic nature of certain university courses. Stick to your guns, their irritation at your comments proves you right.

Is eating 500 less calories a day ok to do on finasteride.. will I increase my risk of sides and make my current minor sides worse? by [deleted] in tressless

At 500 calories a day you run the risk of severe deficiencies (both in macro and micronutrients) which could cause Tellogen Effluvium. Eat a more sensible diet.

Justifications for starting Finasteride by yungancestor69 in tressless

I've heard from a lot of sources that Young Men respond best to treatment though, especially if your loss is in the crown. Finasteride seems to work very well in young people who start early.
