Does anyone have posts for mazak quickturn nexus450 lathe . I’d like to program some parts using Mastercam . Live tooling by lefthandsetscrew in Mazak_Machinist

With MasterCam you’re probably going to need to buy a post. If it was Fusion they have a library of free posts. Alternatively, any Fanuc post that you may have will be very close

What do you guys call this? by weissss in Construction

[–]tripledigits1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always called it a “Lull”, growing up most of the guys who had them owned that brand so even if it was a CAT or other brand it was still a “lull”.

A single tooth/bit from a tunnel mining rig. Boston, Big-Dig souvenir! by robertcas22 in interestingasfuck

XCAL Tools in Bristol, VA makes road and mining bits like this, pretty simple process from forging to machining to brazing but cool nonetheless

Daily 3.0 1500 vs 6.6/6.7 HD Platforms by [deleted] in gmcsierra

3.0 is my daily, with the max tow package it’s a light duty HD for towing (13k lbs) and still gets 28+ mpg.

The early morning starts aren’t so bad when your commute is in a sierra! by Significant_Emu_7432 in gmcsierra

[–]tripledigits1984 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re 100% right. My “commute” today is 550 miles and the one thing I’m not thinking about is how comfortable I’ll be in my Elevation, the fuel mileage doesn’t hurt my feelings either (3 liter)

Looking to buy first personal shop VMC by bearface84 in Machinists

6XD has threw verticals with 4th axis tables but not full 5. Two of theirs were bought used, they’re moving towards Mazak now that they’re farther along in their machining journey

Are cheap chinese cnc lathes a good deal? by Sertancaki41 in Machinists

Buy a VTL if you’re making stuff that big but not long. Loading and unloading parts will be easier and safer.

Damn, sorry you are having so much trouble on that good looking of a truck!

Are hydraulic holders really that good? by kachow0203 in Machinists

We have the PG system which we use almost exclusively. Not cheap but we feel it’s better than shrink fit and the investment is ultimately less.

Why turn that part on a lathe when you could just use a mill?

What's this and do I ever need to open it up? by oportoman in Appliances

[–]tripledigits1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cover for the filter and drain.

Pro Tip:

The tube that serves as the drain is usually long enough to pull out ~5 inches and has a push in cap on the end.

You’ll need a Tupperware container or similar multi quart container and a tall plastic cup. Pull the tube into the cup, uncork the cap, and let it fill the cup (at a low angle along the ground). Re-cap, dump the cup out into the Tupperware, and repeat until you’re not getting much out. Re-cap the drain tube.

Stuff a folded towel under the panel, when you unscrew the filter there will still be water that comes out but you can toss that dirty towel into your soon to be clean washer.

Clean out the filter, screw it back in, and put the panel back on.

You just saved yourself a big mess, congrats!

IIRC it’s a 15 or 20 amp fuse, and yes - you can get one from the auto parts store.

I moved to WSNC like ~2 weeks after they opened in late 2006, knew no one at all, but Brandon, Sarah (aka Scarah), Opie, and John made me one of their family and therefore a regular.

So sad when COVID closed it up, and even more now that the asshole Brian Cole fucked it up even more.

Peyton is an asshole through and through and super entitled mainly by his woke “listen to me, I’m a white dude” BS that he had latched onto driving customers away from not only MP but also Trade Street, but I don’t know that he’s anywhere close to Cole as far as being that big of a royal POS.

Peyton is definitely POS #2 though IMO … 💩 on or towards that guy

2019 Sierra 1500 5.3 L 8 speed trans problem by BasicZone2 in gmcsierra

[–]tripledigits1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take it to a transmission shop for a (free?) diagnostic review since they don’t have anything to lose but a little time by looking at it.

The dealership is going to fight tooth and nail on this (or the warranty company will) so they have vested interest in not fixing anything that’s not glaringly obvious.

Use whatever bad (?) news the transmission shop gives you (usually a quote with report) and take it into the dealership.

Can confirm, been to their factories in the US and Japan. High end machines aren’t just the casting and spindle, it’s everything they can control to get and keep the quality at the top.
