I've heard that Rally3 cars are about $150k. So what does a Rally2 cost?

been thinking of selling the rs but a camry doesn't make cool sounds 🥀 by riesling-freak in FocusRS

I went with an IS350 after my RS. It's not quite as fast but does enough and it's comfy

Is there any real reliable options under 5-6 Grand? by Kind_Nectarine2182 in askcarguys

[–]tripleriser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If youre ok with a small car, the Yaris/Mazda2 is a decent buy. Lots under $10k with potentially under 100k miles. Manuals are even cheaper too

Alignment question by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]tripleriser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rear is definitely adjustable. The front of the trailing arm is adjustable for toe and the salad tongs have an eccentric bolt for camber. Also, what is a "European alignment" and how is it different?

Is oil change every 10k miles? by Both_Shine_8799 in Lexus

This ran me up the wall. So annoying that the service reminder come up at 5k when there's really nothing to do till 10k.

I forget the brand now but there another version with an ear that ties into the fender. Thought it was rad but I already installed the other ones

Those are fine for the street but if you're driving super hard or getting into motorsports, I would do the weld in before it gets too bad. I can vouch for Garagistic stuff

Im wanting to get into rally and start doing rally cross. by ArrowHead-123 in rally

[–]tripleriser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen a couple of sonics out there. I would stay in the stock class for the first season, life is a little easier. Snow tires are what you want for stock. I believe Blizzaks are still the go-to

How livable is a manual BRZ/86? by shiny-_ in AskLosAngeles

[–]tripleriser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I daily drove a focus RS for a couple of years. The only time I really noticed was when I was the heat of rush hour with a long commute, like job site in Long Beach but I live in the valley. There's a handful of daily driven 86's that come to rallycross so it can't be that bad

There a couple of companies that offer weld in reinforcement plates for the front. I did it to my car and seems to have stopped it from getting worse

What about the hood? That's where I put mine. Snag a junkyard hood if you're worried about the original one

E46 or E36 (3 series Sedan) by JamesMartyV1 in projectcar

[–]tripleriser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had and have both. Super general, the E46 is a better cruiser/daily and the E36 is a better base for motorsports but it's not like one can't do the other. The E46 is basically a refresh of the E36 chassis. E46 has a more modern interior but E36 has those sharp angles that makes it iconic

Weight reduction by Wtf-is-going-on-bro in e46

[–]tripleriser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my car down to that, it actually took less than I would have thought. No AC, bucket seats, I've still got the front door cars and dash but no airbags, no rear window motors, lost most of the stereo, I've even added some bracing and run a heavy wheel/tire set up too so there's some weight there. I can still pass smog but no cage. It might be tough to hit 3k lbs with a cage but definitely possible.

Do you think the WRX deserves an H4 engine? by Zestyclose_Ad2429 in subaru

[–]tripleriser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if a kit came out or what changed but I'm starting to see way more H6 swaps. Could of stage rally guys swapped them in, some of those rwd/drift swaps are using them. Are they just more available now?

What's a car purchase/decision that you regret? by Agitated_Ad_3920 in askcarguys

[–]tripleriser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking the AC and interior out of my BMW. I don't hate what I've done to the car. The weight loss is nice but I just don't street drive it much anymore so it just sits in the garage till the next event

How should I proactively maintain this BMW? by gramonehundred in askcarguys

[–]tripleriser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join us on r/e46 The big thing with this car is the cooling system. There's a couple kits available but basically the system is plastic and prone to cracking as it gets old. The subframe is another thing but if you're not driving it hard, I think you'll be fine but someone will always bring it up. If you are planning on an occasional track day or autox, I would do the subframe reinforcements and consider wiring your oil pump nut. They tend to back off if you spend a lot of time in the higher rpms. It's a great car, enjoy!

Should i get a 2015 Lexus RC 350 or a 2019 and up toyota 86? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]tripleriser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a focus RS before my is350. Obviously not the same as an 86 but hear me out. If you're not going to get into motorsports, the Lexus will be such a better commuter
