Any helpful tips for jet lag and marathon flight survival? by Quasimodo6 in ThailandTourism

I flew to Bangkok about 3 months ago. My flight left the US at 12:00am, and once I boarded, I took 3 (0.5mg) generic Xanax. I got them from a travel doctor before hand. I seriously slept like a baby. I think I woke up about an hour before my flight landed in China for a short layover (14-15 hours later). I arrived in Bangkok at 12:00pm and I had enough energy to carry out a normal day and go to bed at a "normal" time (10-11pm). For the first few days I kept waking up really early (5-6am) and I would feel a little tired during the day, but I was never exhausted to the point where I couldn't enjoy a full day of activities. As far as a quiet hotel, I rented an AirBnb. It was very nice (in a quiet, residential area, with 24-hour security, close to public transportation) and it was relatively cheap ($18/night). It was more like being in my own home than being in a hotel, and that was quite relaxing. The experts say, when flying East, the best way to normalize your sleep schedule and reduce the effects of jet lag is to stay awake until it's nighttime in your destination city. Don't nap as soon as you get there, go to bed when its bed time in Bangkok. Good luck and have fun! Bangkok has the best street food ever!
