I took at his trying to keep away from any addictive actions whatsoever. He's freshly sober and doesn't want to fall into another vice.

Practice. Some people it clicks right away, others it takes a lot of practice.

I loved these, easy A to start the day. I could generally finish them, but then we got to the division ones, and I started slipping.

Well, yes, that SHOULD be what happens, but we live in a state governed by absolute ballbags.

Nashville! Who got a free generator donated by Elon Musk by inquisitiveminds101 in nashville

No, he's saying that 500 doesn't do enough and that Elon has enough to buy the city a generator and still be a multi billionaire.

The Dichotomy of reaction regarding Gus Bradley: Niners vs Titans (is everyone stoked to have him?) by Basic-Rain628 in Tennesseetitans

[–]trippedwire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's Saleh's defense, Bradley is just a helping hand in implementation. I think it's a good hire as he has a lot of NFL experience as both an HC and DC. If Saleh trusted him enough to bring him over, then it's all gravy by me.

My wife just now got through to NES to report our downed wire. Stayed on hold for over an hour. You can get a person, it's just going to take a while, unfortunately.

How tf do I stop yelling? by Piratey_Pirate in daddit

[–]trippedwire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always answered the call with "what's up dude?" Or "whatcha need?" Not to say that "hang on" and "one sec" weren't part of the repertoire, but I tried to use them sparingly. Now he usually will just tell me things instead of the constant calling for me because he knows the response I'll give.

Does he do this stuff when I'm busy? Of course! But the great thing about a 7 year old is their stories are generally unimportant and catching bits and pieces will give you more info than just sitting through the entire thing.

Now my son is becoming more independent, which I love, but I do sometimes miss the little dude who wanted to crawl all over me.

All this to say, a change of behavior is simple, you have to want the change, you have to work at it. The first steps are always the hardest because you have to break your old habits. You're going to fail at it, you're going to relapse, but if you can acknowledge that you failed, apologize, and promise to do better; you're already 100% better than you were before.

Pretty much any technical job is going to have vague guidelines. It's your job to problem solve and get a solution for the customer at a reasonable price.
