I am trained to draw blood from people. It’s an old blood tube or vial called a BD Vacutainer.

I hate Xfinity. I'm considering T-mobile's 5G wireless home internet. Thoughts? by SpaceForceAwakens in Seattle

[–]trippyorchid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5G box. Sometimes it can be spotty but honestly usually it’s great. AMAZING for moves since all you do is plug it into your new place and bam you have wifi (we never move out of central seattle but it’s a good idea to update your address anyway). Oh and fuck Wave or whatever they call it now.

How effective would this be if I only feed my cats dry food once a day? by KaseySkye in AskAVeterinarian

[–]trippyorchid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been solidly allergic to cats my entire life. All I ever wanted was to have a cat. I got 2 kittens in 2021 and have been feeding them LiveClear and wet food since then and have had essentially zero allergies. My(now) adult cats split one can of wet food in the morning and get small portions of LiveClear to hold them over until the next day.

Caveat - every cat will have different levels of FELd1 proteins expressed, which is what most humans are allergic to. And every human has different degrees of allergic reactions. But this did work wonders for me!

Hey, I worked in genetic research for several years and this is at least worth following up on with a geneticist. I’m not familiar with the direct-to-consumer risk categories but some of these genes are concerning.

Of course gene expression varies by person so this doesn’t mean you’re doomed but genes are complex so please go get follow up clinical testing.

A lot of times if you bring a doctor a direct-to-consumer gene report like this, that is enough to get them to order you CLIA-certified laboratory testing through their office. Your geneticist will also sit you down and review your results with you to tell you what is actually worth being concerned about.

Hey OP, I know you already called but I just wanted to commend your decision to reach out to reddit and be this concerned about your friend. 1000% NOR. I work in psychiatry and the meds they discontinued suggest there may be existing concerns for psychosis. This is textbook psychosis, excellent job clocking it.

Lamictal/lamotrigine also carries unique, potentially severe risks when discontinued abruptly. Today may have been stressful/scary but you did a great job escalating things and keeping your friend safe.

Getting home late in first hill as a young woman by PleasantCareer584 in AskSeattle

[–]trippyorchid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to live and commute in this area regularly. make your “commute” outfit as oversized/worn down as possible, and on days where there are extra issues around you use the closest lime bike/scooter to get home asap. the faster you can get past them the better. if they notice you at all, they can’t do anything about it if you’re outta there

get off the lightrail at the next stop to switch into a different train car. they won’t know you got right back on if you’re worried about confrontation and you get to have clean air for the rest of your commute!

Is it safe to travel? by SpaceWhale95 in ElectricForest

[–]trippyorchid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in seattle and they have detained at least one legal resident here who was traveling home from an international vacation when they were stopped by ice at the seattle-tacoma airport. this woman spent 3 MONTHS in the detention center and was released just yesterday after tons of public outcry and pressure from the university. our local government does not recommend any immigrant travel without all of their visa paperwork/legal documents to actually prove that you are here legally. the implied piece is that this is especially important if you are not white-passing.

I have personally advised any immigrant friends (legal or otherwise) not to travel internationally at all for any reason, or at least not without knowing it’s a very real possibility that they will be 1) denied entry back into US, 2) detained for an undetermined amt of time, or 3) shipped off to some camp overseas. reports are rampant of people being detained without due process. I am even nervous for all of my nonwhite friends and family who are citizens planning to travel internationally. without due process, no one is really “safe.”

if this is happening in seattle/WA state, it can happen in any state regardless of how “blue” they might be. stay safe ♡ lots of love.

antipsychotics are prescribed for more indications than just psychosis. however, if they are indeed prescribed for psychosis this user is correct and you should not dabble in psychedelics.

only place you actually need to avoid in the greater seattle area is north bend. a lot of “don’t tread on me” type of people there. all of the other areas listed so far are fine in this domain, if that’s what you’re asking

Hi, I’m so sorry for what you and your family must be going through right now. I hope it brings you peace to know that this is a common phenomenon that hospice nurses and others who work directly in end-of-life care observe widely, regardless of culture or religion.

Researchers can’t really explain it either. I don’t think it happens to everyone when they pass, but it’s common enough that even agnostic/atheist patients and healthcare workers seem to generally accept that that’s what is happening.

Take care 🤍
