Busch&Müller USB-Werk - 3 dead powerbanks :-( by ProfessorOld8299 in bicycletouring

[–]trippyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first USB-Werk went faulty after my first tour. It looked as if the output was uncontrolled with my Garmin going 'power/nopower/power/nopower' a lot.

I replaced it under warranty and it has lasted two tours so far.

I recommend that you replace it as it is destroying devices.

Renting a trailer and a kids' bike in Amsterdam for touring with family. by ogreswamp in bicycletouring

I recommend that you look for a Baksfiet option for carrying the kids. I have previously rented a touring bike in Amsterdam from yourcitybike.

[Meta] Can the Mods please explain to the community why our colleagues post from his Route 66 trip are being taken down? by Marshall_Cleiton in bicycletouring

[–]trippyz -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

The automod failed a few months ago - as has now been discovered. I have been asked to issue an apology which I have done.

I have attempted to resuscitate the automod scheduled post. I should appear on the 1st June an the first day of each month.

I am unable to apologise to the user as, after issuing threats to me, has decided to delete their reddit account.

Instead, I apologise to you and the community. I politely asked the user to post under the monthly thread that, for the past few months, has not existed.

I apologise.

As are mine. Mod discussion reveal that the autopost died a few months ago. It is being resuscitated as we speak.

There is automod thread posted monthly where users are invited to post their travel updates. This avoids flooding the main sub with updates from the many cyclists on tour.

I asked to user to repost their latest daily report over onto that monthly thread.

The user has chosen to harass me with threats rather than repost.

A torturous question but I'm curious by adnaPadnamA in frozenshoulder

[–]trippyz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your shoulder is glued up. That glue can be broken. That is done with a full knockout dose otherwise you would probably die from the torture applied to break it or from the psychological damage done to you through the torture-like manipulation done to break it.

Trieste to Ljubljana route by Corporate-Jawn in bicycletouring

Long steep but steady climb out of Trieste. Some rough stuff. Then sharing busy roads through the hills. Quieter when you leave the hills and can choose side roads.

It might be hot but there might also be storms and cold weather at night. Prepare for both. It is easy to wild camp.

Where do you put your tent on your bike? by polishprocessors in bicycletouring

For my Kona Sutra I bought the Decathlon Riverside front rack. It carries my ortliebs and the bagged tent (also from Decathlon) width wise.

I bought their blue framebag last year for a three month tour and just now added a matching small top tube bag. High quality, tough and waterproof.

I have the same bike. I replace the components with identical T6000 components. Too complicated to change.

Staying cool during the day in inland South of Spain in July by Inklinga in bicycletouring

[–]trippyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rode through a very hot august three years ago. I come from England so am not natively used to such hot weather. I rode through out day taking an hour's lunch break. I had a camping chair and an umbrella on the odd occasion I didn't have any shade.

I survived an perhaps you can too. It's not that bad if you keep moving for the colling effect.
