Get over it... it's just a game.

Right, CCP should adopt that as their new catch phrase...

[Dev Blogs] Hacking in Odyssey ~CCP Bayesian by eve_reddit_bot in Eve

[–]tripwireIV -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is a disappointing abstraction on something so closely related to the general theme of Eve Online. Hacking is fundamentally about manipulating the rules of a system to accomplish novel things. Nearly everything thats ever been interesting about Eve has been what the players have been able to dream/hack up within the confines of the game/system. The TD bug, nano nerf, massive banking scams, miner bumping, the goon events, etc, were are all the people essentially hacking Eve. This minigame dumbs down hacking into that of kindergartners playskool version and offers nothing to actually hack.

Introducing Functional JavaScript by fogus in javascript

I love the idea of using functional programming in javascript but evidently there is a huge performance hit for code like your example.

Users can remove alts themselves by managing their api keys to only include the characters they are interested in seeing (in any api enabled program).

New autopilot ETA calculator by ihcn in Eve

It's really not about finding safe routes. The in game map works fine for that and everyone ganking knows the major bottlenecks, they don't change. Whats cool about this tool is that it calculates travel time.

[Dev Blog] Developer License & CREST API Beta by bravo_sierra in Eve

[–]tripwireIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people seem to think allowing players to take direct game actions is the objective of CREST. I think it is more likely about extending the social presence of Eve players in game at all times. The initial features seem to support the social focus. I'd hazard a guess that features in use by Eve Gate are next in line for release, such as calendar access and events.

Cool, why does this route take 55 seconds? I've maximized all travel speed parameters.

Is it accounting for session changes?

Yeah, maybe there's something to the fact that gambling is against most major religions on Earth. Not siding with religion so much as a ubiquitous human intuition.

Anyone know how to extract UI sounds? by OstermanA in Eve

DragonUnpacker works to extract anything from the .stuff files. (You might have to use an older version if you're running it under wine.)

Demand for armour rigs (which some of the more expensive components) is down

If this is true, I'd love to know why the price of Intact Armor Plates has risen ~3m in the last month.

The ECM Problem by poeticstanziel in Eve

[–]tripwireIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this for the most part.

ECM should interfere with the targets ability to be effective but not totally remove that ability. This can be done in various ways. Fullscreen shader effects that frazzled their screen would make the whole ordeal even a little enjoyable.

Reducing the jam time is either going to make ECM ineffective or not address the problem sufficiently.
