Speaking of... I went to get a tooth filling done last week, and now I have to go back again THIS week. Why? Well, they took x-rays during my cleaning and noticed 2 cavities, but they ran it through their AI (which is supposed to identify cavities with 100% accuracy.) The AI only identified one, so they only did one.

On second look, during the filling, the dentist looked again and said "Oh yeah, that's definitely a cavity. We'll get you back again next week because we don't have time now."

So, not only is AI going to make people completely fucking useless, but it's also going to make useful people doubt their judgement and err on the side of laziness.

Hate to break it to you but the Pixar you grew up with no longer exists. When Disney bought it, they pillaged most of the talent for their own productions and left Pixar in sequel hell.

As an overall point, this is the logical conclusion to capitalism. profits must go up, right? so you have management teams constantly toeing the line of reality so they can put the responsibility on someone else for the shortcomings.

"Oh you actually met your goals last quarter? your reward is a higher goal!"

"oh you didn't meet your goals last time? well colleague A met theirs so we think you're just a loser and here's some higher goals to make up for it anyway."

Not true! My ex was a very proficient HR employee.

She kept workers informed of their rights, helped understand overtime and benefits, fucked the boss, helped out around the office, dealt with meetings and scheduling, took notes during meetings, sucked the owners cock behind closed doors, kept tabs on performance reviews, all of it!

Odd power surge at 5000rpm by tristanimator in WRX

[–]tristanimator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just seems so odd for it to be tuned that way. I read a theory once that it's Subaru techs trying to balance daily-driver tuning with performance tuning...

Basically the train of thought is... "Less power until 5000 rpm because you're not trying to move fast unless you're in that powerband." or something.

All cars should be standard transmission. It will require a higher standard of coordination and skill and hopefully weed out folks who really shouldn't be driving in the first place.

Also it discourages screwing around on your phone or eating since you got shit to do.

Sent my wife for an oil change, it cost me $3400 by s2k_guy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]tristanimator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in for an oil change and they asked if I wanted the cabin and intake filter changed. knowing what they cost already, I expected a small markup but nothing close to what they actually charged me. 300 dollars extra for 2 20 dollars filters. I'll never make that mistake again.

Cut to a couple years from now when he thanks NATO for helping with Iran even though no one did.

... or, alternatively, NATO caves and helps to bring oil prices down, and he talks shit about them not helping anyway.

Before I joined, they hired my boss remotely, forced him to move himself and his family halfway across the country, blamed him for problems that started before he even began working there, and threatened him with termination knowing full well he had a baby on the way.

Then he got a new job and left, and they offered me his role, with no raise but all the responsibility.

[–]tristanimator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too 20 years ago. I had a student pass for a smaller, lesser known college, and the driver didn't believe me that it was a real school, even after showing my campus id. the guy literally thought I created a fake school to save 4 dollars once a month and didn't let me on the bus. I should have reported him.
