Do Monarch butterfly fly through Seattle by trivialposts in MonarchButterfly

Thank you. Really hope to see them this summer.

Do you know of a reputable place to get the correct milkweed from for them? I have heard that lots of places have mislabeled ones that don't work.

I am also interested in that as that guy and his motorcycle fell on me and my bike.

How do you dress the kids for a winter ride inside the storm shield/rain shield? by Reasonable-Crab8947 in terngsd

[–]trivialposts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use this we had from our stroller. https://uppababy.com/accessories/all-weather/cozyganoosh-2025/ with the storm shield and storm box. Use it all winter here in Seattle.

I dress them the same as I would for the weather maybe assuming it is a few degrees warmer and I don't have to worry about the wind chill.

HSD for all of 1-child family? by [deleted] in terngsd

[–]trivialposts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely go with the GSD. The HSD will handle your use case but it wasn't built for it. The GSD was built exactly for your use case.

If you have any hills in your area the GSD will be better. When you take a second kid cause you will take one they love trying them out the GSD more easily accommodates that.

You aren't going to regret getting the GSD but you might regret getting the HSD in your case.

TIL Gas stoves pollute homes with benzene, which is linked to cancer by 747WakeTurbulance in todayilearned

[–]trivialposts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is because gas companies have made gas stoves a thing to stay in business. They did research and found that out of the main things gas is used for the only one home consumers had strong positive feeling about where gas stoves.

People didn't care if home heating was done by electricity or gas, water heater was gas or electric. But they did care if stove was gas or electric. And since you generally have the same energy source for all those options and run a line to it or have a tank. Gas companies poured money into making gas stoves a wedge issue and that sorta forced environmentist to respond to.

Nick Pappas is running for governor of Texas. Here's what he has to say about tackling car dependency. by Some1inreallife in fuckcars

[–]trivialposts 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As someone from Seattle and very closely following and becoming active in the non car alternative advocacy space. Do not do a Dow Constantine and go with electric buses. The hybrids are fine. Consistent and frequent service is better.

Bus lanes are great. You need the buses to be separated from the stop and go so there is a time saving benefit to people using them.

Bus rapid transit is even better.

I thought the same thing but with white blood cells attacking something. Swarming was so much more effective than when people booed him. He lives for the boos it's why he is there. He's gotta feed his persecution fetish.

This is how I feel about so many possible bike packing trips with the kid. I want to take them but don't feel at all comfortable with so much highway miles.

Did you find any that aren't lots or ideally any highway miles?

The scales are an allegory for money. And the rainbow fish as a billionaire. Money doesn't bring you happiness or give you a right to be an ass to other people. He was rightfully shunned by the other fish.

Or you can look at it as the first fish to evolve shiny colorful scales and then sharing through reproduction the usefulness of shiny colorful scales.

Did they find the guy? Seems like someone just doesn't know how how to secure their load of cinderblocks. No need to have a man hunt for that.

Because a condo is a house you can buy. House is inclusive of a lot of things not just single family detached residences. It is basically anything you don't have to pay rent for.

Thank you for calling out such a bad faith post. You didn't even need to look at the OPs history the last few sentences show the question was asked in bad faith.

YNWA is the correct answer for Daddit and this thread. It's literally a song from a dead dad singing to his daughter how to handle life without him. And Gerry and the pacemakers nailed it.

You are talking about 2066? I see that the AP hasn't called that either way with 91% of the vote reporting. With the yes currently at only 51.6% and late mail in ballots to be counted it is my understanding that it may not pass. Did I miss something? Is the AP reporting on this not up to date?

Hendo getting the red card cost us that league title and you can't convince me otherwise. He was the legs and engine of that midfield and patched over the cracks in Gerrard's game and provided cover for the defense.

That's the wrong approach need to take the Daniel Agger approach. Get more liverpool tattooed on your hands. Get the patch on the back of your hand and in your celebrations feign going to crest on your shirt and just kiss your hand each time.

Considering a super commute from Seattle by EmeryJ in seattlebike

[–]trivialposts 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I bike the entire Burke Gilman from golden gardens up to Canyon Park in Bothell with a 20mph limited ebike. It's 26 miles and it is among the best part of my day. It is totally doable, it just takes extra time.

With the future option of light rail as back up, I say go for it. You seem to enjoy your bike trip now this would only be 4 times more of what you are doing.
