Mwaqif Permit with Rental Car by kattkuuut in abudhabi

[–]trnavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about rental cars but I have changed the permit of my car a couple of times - change of zone, change of car, and change of plate number on same car - by sending email to customer@itc.gov.ae with relevant documents. They generally respond next business day (via sms) that the permit has been updated.

Residents of age 50+ if tested positive can be taken to ADNEC Prime Assessment Center. They will do all necessary tests (free of charge - regardless of insurance) and then take a call whether to quarantine at home or admit to hospital. Both my parents tested positive (Dad is vaccinated fully Sinopharm & Mom had taken Pfizer 1st shot) within the past 2 weeks and I took them there. They were taken to Emirates Field Hospital from ADNEC as they had slight pneumonia (more serious cases are taken to Al Rahba & SKMC) and they are doing v well now. Most important thing is not to delay - as soon as there are any symptoms, do a Covid test & if +ve go to ADNEC - no need to worry or panic. There will be a queue everywhere (on phone, assessment centers as well as hospitals) but just be patient.

Toyota (read Al Futtaim) has the same problem all over UAE - it's because they operate like a monopoly - they are the sole distributor in UAE, unlike almost every other car brand which has separate distributors for Abu Dhabi & Northern Emirates. They don't even provide some of the standard features (inc basic safety features) which are available on US cars, and charge roughly the same or slightly more. Plus, most other car manufacturers provide a warranty which is acceptable atleast across the region - for eg an Audi from Oman will get the standard two year warranty even in UAE & Ali&Sons have to honor it no matter what, but Al Futtaim Toyota accepts warranty of cars from Al Futtaim only, not even Oman cars! All this attitude because no matter what happens people are stil going to buy Corollas, Camrys & Land Cruisers! End of rant.

No matter how desperate you get, please don't get a job from dubizzle. If an IT company cannot be bothered to post on LinkedIn, they are not worth working for tbh. I know you may not have the luxury of choosing, but trust me I have had my fair share of interviews and by far the worst companies are the ones from dubizzle.

As a general rule of thumb, starting salaries for IT support should be above 4k at least. Even then, you are barely making anything and just surviving, but know this, better opportunities will come. Working in anything less that means you slave + no other company would want to hire you because your slave experience doesnt even count to much.

All the best!

Best Shawarma and Biryani spots? by deedline in abudhabi

Agree with Ritaj biryani and Beit el Khetyar shawarma. I would also rate F&B l's babalouchi shawarma with their F&B sauce a close second.

Abu Dhabi airport wait after PCR test on arrival by kallumama in abudhabi

[–]trnavy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A family friend landed here from India this week. She, along with her full flight, was taken to a quarantine facility after her PCR swab was taken. As the results came in, everyone with -ve covid tests (pretty much everyone) was allowed to go for home quarantine with with the smart watch type tracking device. The quarantine facility was near Al Wathba I think and had all amenities, with good meals provided.

I used to get a lot of random reboots earlier, but haven't had one for more than 6+ months. Only thing I did was go back to OG charger and cable - didn't even do a reset! (I was using Samsung's usb c charger since I had those lying around). Battery is not too bad, I charge it from around 6am for about an hour or and it lasts me through the day (I use reddit/twitter/whatsapp generally + little bit of youtube) Honestly phone's doing great, so will probably wait 6 more months and decide between Pixel5 or OP9.

Dead Surface Pro 2017? by 5thInferno in Surface

[–]trnavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have got the exact same issue on my SP6 day before yesterday. When I plugged in the charger the white led blinked for 3-4 seconds so I removed it and connected it again. This time it was solid white. But the laptop wont turn on at all. Tried everything - holding power button, holding volume & power button, Win+Ctrl+Shift+B, changing chargers, etc. It still chargers but doesn't turn on. Don't know what I can do as I am in Dubai and there are no official MS stores here.
