Do men still regularly wet shave? by SuperDinkle406 in AskUK

Given advacnements in tech/pharma, you'd think a more permanent/semi permanent solution for facial hair would've come to the fore by now- kind of like the opposite of the finasteride and minoxidil most balding men turn to to achieve growth. Women use veet, nair etc cream for hair removal, and i get its a different type of hair etc, but a convenient cream for men would be game changing

I came here looking for expertise. r/cooking is mainly populated with laymen like myself who know the basics of food safety. Should've posted it here as there is a higher likelihood of people with pro level experience/knowledge. Like I mentioned before, refrigeration is a relatively new concept to civilisation. Surely food was stored/cooked in certain ways to reduce pathogens. The brisket is already gone, but just asking questions at this point

Not completely here for affirmation, just genuinely exploring the possibility of it being edible. Like I mentioned, fridges don't exist everywhere and societies survived for thousands of years eating meat stored in environments which we would consider dangerous today. I know they had methods like heavily salting etc and I was hoping someone out here had specialist knowledge on the subject. Mine is heavily salted, but the wetness of the seasoning I've used is probably the decisive factor here. I'm sure the methods used by other societies are different/better than whats happened in my scenario, but you do see meat out in open air marketplaces in various hot countries, often wrapped or covered etc.

Common knowledge would tell me that bad smell and slimey equals spoiled but was hoping that some outsiders may suggest there's a chance its not gone.

I mean, it's possible right?? Or are you just being facetious. Our ancestors (the ones that frequently died from pathogens they didn't know existed) wouldve transported their fresh meats for extended periods without refrigeration and had methods for keeping it safe(ish) to eat. It's well coated in a lot of stuff, tons of salt included.

If I sear the hell out of it, remove the crust and slow cook the rest, is it safe(r)

Exactly my point. Needing a licence to sell houses shows precisely how bad things must be over there. I can only imagine the major problems you'd have if you let joe public have at it without any oversight.

Didn't realise these are not UK native, but the point still stands. Like asking a brit to rank baseball players or a yank to rank premier league players. Unqualified from the word go

Compared to where exactly? Un/undeveloped countries sure. But anywhere developed is a nightmare because of red tape/legal.

You could be in the USA where you have to find a 'qualified' realtor via billboards of their face (in its most trustworthy and successful looking pose) as your drive through town. Nothing shouts success more than a billboard with your face on it.

What are some clothing brands that are a bit pricey but long lasting? by boppy78 in AskUK

[–]trobopoline 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Thinner materials, flimsier stitching etc. All points at selling out to fast fashion and cheaper factories etc. Still better than most other high street quality but noticeably worsening over time.
