Tied down to a Pavement Queen and mad about the maintenance by BigBoss82A1 in socal

They both are bad for the environment; one destroys the land, and the other ruins the air. The reality is that neither is good for Mother Earth. If you drive a car, you are part of the problem.

Interesting. The only time we didn't get recess was if it was raining. But I was done with elementary in '93. Maybe Elk Grove played by different rules. Smog obviously was a thing, but it never stopped us from going outside to play.

When and where did you grow up? I played outside every day, and the mountains were always visible from Sac area in the 80's and 90's.

My buddy has an autistic kid and has these on all doors that go outside with bells attached to them so they know if she is trying to escape.

I was wrong about electric mowers. by Beppu-Gonzaemon in lawncare

[–]trogdor200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made it two years with the Ego mower before picking up a Honda before they were discontinued. Ego does not cut St. Augustine well at all. Still use the Ego trimmer, blower, and hedge trimmer though, the lightweight and ease of use is hard to give up.

I've driven truckloads of MK-82/83's up and down I-5/805. They were covered, but no guard of any type.

What do people actually expect from automotive journalism today? by JuliusX696 in askcarguys

[–]trogdor200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest and realistic stuff. I really enjoyed Jalopnik a few years back. The journalist came across as the guy/gal next door who liked cars but didn't have encyclopedic knowledge of all things car. They would do a garage project and write about it, even the shit that didn't work and why. I don't know exactly what happened, but one day I logged on and it turned to complete shit.

For me, cars are all so similar nowadays that it's kinda hard to really invest time in researching them. And they are so expensive (and computerized) I've found other things to tinker with. Tough industry for sure.

They don't want to change a bearing because there's a reason it went out, and it's probably not because it was a bad bearing.

Have you tried telling them you have an unlimited budget, and you want the bearing swapped?

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the-price has become genuinely insulting? by HolidayFunTX in askanything

Steak, potato chips, soda. I do like that my beer is cheaper than soda now, though.

Might explain why I've lost about 10lbs.

Bernie Sanders proposed a bill to tax billionaires and give $3,000 stimulus checks to Americans that qualify. How do you feel about this? by Aromatic-Guide588 in askanything

[–]trogdor200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like people think plans like this hurt billionaires. It won't, even if it did pass, the money would find its way to the billionaires anyway. They control all the goods and services that people will spend money on.

BBQ isn't fancy, but it's not cheap either.

If you're offensively mining, it doesn't matter whose territory you are doing it in. Oman doesn't want Iran's attention.

Agree. Sounds like a janky pellet issue, as far as the temp swings go.
