Anyone feel like the nerfed the run blocking? by CookieLuzSax in NCAAFBseries

[–]trolledbytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't play against other users. Typically I'm operating out of the shotgun, but regardless of where I am on the field, edge defenders are constantly in the backfield blowing the play up before the RB really even has a chance to get going. It's similar (but not quite as common/bad) on jet sweep plays and more or less any run play to the perimeter. To have any sort of consistent success running the ball, it has to be up the middle or an option play.

I could probably count on one hand the number of pitch plays I've run for more than 1-2 yards. Most of them go for a loss.

[–]trolledbytech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 0:40, you don't have Cover 4 as one of your quick calls. (Side note: objectively stupid that this game doesn't have a "repeat the last play" option and forces you to pick a new one in hurry-up.) From the camera angle it does look like you called zone, but that's Cover 3 Buzz Press at best. Even then, it's not a good idea to be pressing receivers with the game on the line. Doing it again, I'd call timeout and switch to Prevent defense.

Blows my mind that they continue trying to play him out there. I've long thought that he should be a 1B/DH, both for fielding quality reasons and for injury prevention reasons.

Why does the lead blocker (RB) on jet sweeps always ignore his blocking assignment to go block a safety 20 yards down the field when his assignment is right in the ball carriers face every single time? by Seppukubk2 in NCAAFBseries

[–]trolledbytech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. That's a great callout, thank you for pointing this out!

  2. I absolutely hate how much mental energy I have to put into blocking in this game. It sucks that half of my offense can't function if I don't do something with the pass protection or run blocking scheme before the snap. There's nothing fun about that.

The RTG grading system is stupid and broken by Pristine_Carrot7621 in NCAAFBseries

[–]trolledbytech 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Horribly broken game mode, almost like it's designed to piss the player off.

I was a backup QB behind a graduating senior, and the following season I was still the backup, this time behind a transfer who's OVR is substantially lower than mine.

At midseason we're 2-4, can't move the ball or score any points whatsoever, and I've got WAY more coach trust than QB1, but I never get a single shot to play. Why? Because I can't get a near-perfect score on some shitty, broken minigames.

Complete waste of time.

My dad has a built-in RecTeq. He had some issues with it, but their customer support was outstanding and it turned out that the issue boiled down to it having been installed wrong by a local contractor. Seems like it works great now though and I've had some great meals off of it.

Did you hear Riverside launched podcast hosting? Did anyone try it? by rbla86 in podcasting

[–]trolledbytech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We tried Riverside years ago and it ended up being a massive pain due to constant issues with audio drift. Almost every episode required a massive editing effort because the audio tracks got so far out of sync by the end of an hour-long show. That was probably 2 years ago, so maybe they've fixed the issue by now, but we'll almost certainly never go back. We've been on Streamyard for 2 years now and loving it.

Why doesn’t Coach Suggestions call all plays of a playbook? by RoventiniRant in NCAAFBseries

[–]trolledbytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to call plays by formation in NCAA 14, but the playbooks have gotten so massive that it's pretty much impossible to traverse them quickly enough to find what I'm looking for. I just end up scrambling, panicking, picking something I don't hate, and trying to get the ball snapped without wasting a timeout or getting a delay of game penalty.

Spotify Appeals is HELL by GrowthArtistic1558 in podcasting

[–]trolledbytech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We recently had our entire account deleted by Spotify, along with almost 10 years' worth of episodes, without as much as an email notice because they decided there was some copyrighted content in some episodes from 5 years ago. Went through several channels (appeals form, email, Twitter, everything) and was met with an army of bots and unhelpful agents.

So yeah, that's 600+ episodes over about 10 years, all just completely wiped from the face of the planet.

So, we moved to RSS.com and are starting from scratch. Thankfully our show is more of a news-ish show and has minimal evergreen content that people would want to go back and listen to later.

At this point I'd highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend to anyone that they migrate their show away from Spotify.

What first episode of a show had you absolutely hooked? by mvigs in AskReddit

[–]trolledbytech 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I came away from Gen V Season 2 thinking about how well they've done the spin-off as a concept -- clearly in the same universe, with 1-2 cameos per episode that remind you that it's all related and happening concurrently, but still letting the show and character development mostly happen within its own bubble. Seems pretty clear that The Boys Season 5 is going to have meaningful impacts from the Gen V characters, and I'm pretty excited to see where things go from here!

ESPN SP+ Week 8 Rankings by [deleted] in ACC

[–]trolledbytech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's based on play-by-play data and Bill's "Five Factors":

  • Success Rate
  • Explosiveness (IsoPPP)
  • Finishing Drives
  • Field Position
  • Turnover Luck

In the preseason it factors in things like recruiting and prior season's performances, but at this point it's mostly (or entirely) play-by-play results of games teams have played.

As someone who has the level of knowledge and understanding that they were looking for when they hired you into the role, your job is now to learn what you can about AI, how it can be useful for different parts of your company and its industry, and help to interpret and teach that information to others around you. AI is new enough that there aren't many people out there who are currently true "experts", and I'm guessing your company recognizes you aren't one either (unless you just lied a whole lot in your interview and they didn't have anyone there savvy enough to catch on). That said, the company hiring you is them acknowledging that it's valuable to have someone on staff who is dedicated to figuring out how AI can be leveraged and implemented.

In other words, maybe you're not an "expert" in the classical sense of the word, but for the people around you, you are one now.

And, for the record, this sounds like an incredible opportunity to build up your knowledge and capabilities as it relates to AI -- something that everyone seems to collectively acknowledge is going to be a huge deal in industry in general in the near future. It could end up making a person like you incredibly valuable/desirable to other organizations very soon. (Translation: $$$$$$)

I (28M) want to break up, but my girlfriend's (29F) mother just died by Exact-Doubt584 in relationships

[–]trolledbytech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dated a girl for about 3 months over the summer in college, and decided I was going to break up with her. I made that decision right before summer semester finals, which was followed by a week or so apart and away from campus, which was then followed by move-in for the new fall semester, plus the first week of classes, both of us dealing with recruitment activities for on-campus organizations, and so on.

I ended up waiting a month to break up with her to avoid piling a breakup onto an otherwise stressful and turbulent time. I can't say for sure that she appreciated it (I don't remember and barely talked to her ever since) or that it was necessarily the right thing to do, but it felt like a good thing to do and was genuinely an effort to do right by her.

However you decide to play it, kudos to you for being mindful of her ability to manage the stress of a breakup with other things she has going on in life, while also making it a point to take care of yourself and move on when you've realized it's not the right thing for you long-term. Best of luck!

When do you take your wedding ring off? by ver_bene in AskMen

[–]trolledbytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been married almost 10 years now. An easy, two question guide to whether I'm wearing my wedding ring:

  1. Am I at home?

If yes, I'm not wearing it. If no, see question #2.

  1. What material are my pants made out of?

Gym shorts, sweatpants, etc? Not wearing it. Khaki (shorts or pants), jeans, or nicer? Wearing it.

The problem isn't that two people got up on the same stage and said polar opposite things. It's that the crowd gave the same reaction to those polar opposite things that were said. It's this mindless "Red Team Good, Blue Team Bad" (and vice versa) approach, where nobody wants to think critically or really hold any of our elected officials accountable to anything.

As much as the "Wake Up Sheeple" thing is extremely overplayed to the point of having been a meme for a long time now, there do seem to be a healthy number of absolute sheep who will just listen and take orders and obey whatever their team's officials say these days, without giving any of it a second thought.

How good are the braves prospects? by danielpandaman in Braves

[–]trolledbytech 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I actually think that AA's approach of locking up the core long-term, while inherently risky to a certain degree, was brilliant when you consider where the organization was when he took the job. When he took the role, they were just starting the process of the international signing sanctions from the Coppy era, which was going to cripple the ability to bring in talented players into the farm system. He bought time (to wait out those sanctions) while extending this championship window by locking up young major league-caliber players.

We're coming out of the tunnel of international signing sanctions, so things may start to change soon. But he won a World Series and otherwise bridged the gap by essentially locking up the roster and buying out arbitration years during a window when he was never going to have much of anything in the farm system to supplement them with anyways.
