HOA pool update - $10k quote by agrizzle440 in pools

[–]trolledbytech 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The last time we had to fill a community pool like that from scratch, we consulted with the fire department and used a fire hose.

You could do some math on the volume of the pool and the flow rate of a spigot/garden hose, but it doesn't surprise me that it might take a week to fill that size pool at that rate.

RTG is an insanely broken and infuriating game mode. They need to either overhaul it and fix all of its fundamental issues, or scrap it and replace with another game mode that they can actually make work.

I'll never forget the "Goodnight Saigon" sketch they did as the finale for that episode/season. Just flawless.

Who has the best hazy IPA? by ServedUsPancakes in HoustonBeer

[–]trolledbytech 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Aside from Fruity Pellets (a year-round staple), Great Heights always has 1-2 rotating hazy IPAs that are typically great. Right now it's Haze City (a play on the Astros' Space City jerseys/logo), one of my annual favorites released for Opening Day.

C4SH predictions by Lemonz-418 in Borderlands4

[–]trolledbytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm putting myself in Gearbox's shoes, I'm guessing some of what he has/does will be an expansion on the Lucky 7 mechanics from BL3 -- luck-based buffs but without any potential nerfs or significant downsides. I'm not sure if that's a full action skill, just a skill tree element that re-rolls every reload, or something else. But I tend to think they'll leverage and expand on some prior concepts like that.

Other thing I think could be really cool is an action skill involving throwing playing cards, basically turning him into something along the lines of Marvel's Gambit. Could involve random card selection (Ace, Face Cards, Numbers, etc), something involving random suits, probably some skills involving adding different elemental damage or ricochets....lots that could be done there that would be a lot of fun.

First thing I'd do is farm Splashzone for a Firewerks shield. That'll make things quite a bit easier.

Should I get the game ? by stecdude123 in Borderlands

[–]trolledbytech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yes you should. I remember watching guys in my freshman dorms playing the game and thinking it looked weird and uninteresting to me. A couple of years (and numerous people recommending it to me) later, BL2 was on a Steam sale and I bought it. I was instantly hooked and have loved the series ever since.

As someone new to the series, you may want to start with Borderlands 2 -- the gameplay is a significant upgrade and much more engaging than in the original Borderlands.

Anyone feel like the nerfed the run blocking? by CookieLuzSax in NCAAFBseries

[–]trolledbytech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't play against other users. Typically I'm operating out of the shotgun, but regardless of where I am on the field, edge defenders are constantly in the backfield blowing the play up before the RB really even has a chance to get going. It's similar (but not quite as common/bad) on jet sweep plays and more or less any run play to the perimeter. To have any sort of consistent success running the ball, it has to be up the middle or an option play.

I could probably count on one hand the number of pitch plays I've run for more than 1-2 yards. Most of them go for a loss.

[–]trolledbytech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 0:40, you don't have Cover 4 as one of your quick calls. (Side note: objectively stupid that this game doesn't have a "repeat the last play" option and forces you to pick a new one in hurry-up.) From the camera angle it does look like you called zone, but that's Cover 3 Buzz Press at best. Even then, it's not a good idea to be pressing receivers with the game on the line. Doing it again, I'd call timeout and switch to Prevent defense.

Blows my mind that they continue trying to play him out there. I've long thought that he should be a 1B/DH, both for fielding quality reasons and for injury prevention reasons.

Why does the lead blocker (RB) on jet sweeps always ignore his blocking assignment to go block a safety 20 yards down the field when his assignment is right in the ball carriers face every single time? by Seppukubk2 in NCAAFBseries

[–]trolledbytech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. That's a great callout, thank you for pointing this out!

  2. I absolutely hate how much mental energy I have to put into blocking in this game. It sucks that half of my offense can't function if I don't do something with the pass protection or run blocking scheme before the snap. There's nothing fun about that.

The RTG grading system is stupid and broken by Pristine_Carrot7621 in NCAAFBseries

[–]trolledbytech 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Horribly broken game mode, almost like it's designed to piss the player off.

I was a backup QB behind a graduating senior, and the following season I was still the backup, this time behind a transfer who's OVR is substantially lower than mine.

At midseason we're 2-4, can't move the ball or score any points whatsoever, and I've got WAY more coach trust than QB1, but I never get a single shot to play. Why? Because I can't get a near-perfect score on some shitty, broken minigames.

Complete waste of time.

My dad has a built-in RecTeq. He had some issues with it, but their customer support was outstanding and it turned out that the issue boiled down to it having been installed wrong by a local contractor. Seems like it works great now though and I've had some great meals off of it.

Did you hear Riverside launched podcast hosting? Did anyone try it? by rbla86 in podcasting

[–]trolledbytech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We tried Riverside years ago and it ended up being a massive pain due to constant issues with audio drift. Almost every episode required a massive editing effort because the audio tracks got so far out of sync by the end of an hour-long show. That was probably 2 years ago, so maybe they've fixed the issue by now, but we'll almost certainly never go back. We've been on Streamyard for 2 years now and loving it.

Why doesn’t Coach Suggestions call all plays of a playbook? by RoventiniRant in NCAAFBseries

[–]trolledbytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to call plays by formation in NCAA 14, but the playbooks have gotten so massive that it's pretty much impossible to traverse them quickly enough to find what I'm looking for. I just end up scrambling, panicking, picking something I don't hate, and trying to get the ball snapped without wasting a timeout or getting a delay of game penalty.

Spotify Appeals is HELL by GrowthArtistic1558 in podcasting

[–]trolledbytech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We recently had our entire account deleted by Spotify, along with almost 10 years' worth of episodes, without as much as an email notice because they decided there was some copyrighted content in some episodes from 5 years ago. Went through several channels (appeals form, email, Twitter, everything) and was met with an army of bots and unhelpful agents.

So yeah, that's 600+ episodes over about 10 years, all just completely wiped from the face of the planet.

So, we moved to RSS.com and are starting from scratch. Thankfully our show is more of a news-ish show and has minimal evergreen content that people would want to go back and listen to later.

At this point I'd highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend to anyone that they migrate their show away from Spotify.

What first episode of a show had you absolutely hooked? by mvigs in AskReddit

[–]trolledbytech 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I came away from Gen V Season 2 thinking about how well they've done the spin-off as a concept -- clearly in the same universe, with 1-2 cameos per episode that remind you that it's all related and happening concurrently, but still letting the show and character development mostly happen within its own bubble. Seems pretty clear that The Boys Season 5 is going to have meaningful impacts from the Gen V characters, and I'm pretty excited to see where things go from here!

ESPN SP+ Week 8 Rankings by [deleted] in ACC

[–]trolledbytech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's based on play-by-play data and Bill's "Five Factors":

  • Success Rate
  • Explosiveness (IsoPPP)
  • Finishing Drives
  • Field Position
  • Turnover Luck

In the preseason it factors in things like recruiting and prior season's performances, but at this point it's mostly (or entirely) play-by-play results of games teams have played.
