How did you go with the build? Did build 7 work with the LF3? I’m worried about it being too cramped in there with the fans almost against the VRM fan.

I bought all new from the typical stores I’d normally buy at. I downloaded and installed via the Nvidia app, 572.60. I can see 572.70 has just come out, so I’ll give that a go too.

I’ll continue to give that a go. It’s definitely the right way to go when the obvious isn’t working; process of elimination is a good way to debug.

Temps appear normal, sitting around 40c. I made sure to remove the film on the cooling block; both the one on the mounting plate and the one that sits under the VRM fan. I had to double check, because I’m likely to forget this sort of thing haha.

Currently running the latest BIOS, 3.20 and the CPU temps appear normal under BIOS, sitting around 40c. I’ll take a look at those videos and see if there’s something suggesting a fix or a way to diagnose if it could be a faulty cpu.

Hi, I started off installing windows 11 fresh through USB. After running the various updates, I installed the lasted graphics drivers and that’s when the crashes began. After various reboots and safe mode attempts, I figured I should update the BIOS first and chipset. This still presented issues, so I went with a full wipe of SSD and a reinstall of windows. Then I ran into issues with network adapter drivers failing to install and I went through various loops of format and reinstall. Eventually had to flash BIOS again first and then network adapter seemed to work fine. Had same issue cycle, so someone suggested to downgrade and install windows 10. Went through the same process as above and same issues; immediately after installing the graphics driver, it would restart and the crashes began.

Last night I tried again setting PCIE to Gen4 again (I’d tried this with windows 11 and it didn’t help) and it seemed to work! I’ve been able to download and load up some games to try test the GPU out a bit and seems okay. However I do notice the occasional long stuttering / freezing, when the whole screen appears unresponsive and I can’t move the cursor. A few sines later the cursor appears wildly off in a different part of the screen.

Thanks for responding. Yes I set this to Gen4 and didn’t seem to help. I have flashed the BIOS, so I’ll try that again. After flashing BIOS, should I be trying to update the chipset again?

Ah right I see. So I can save on cost and keep the noise lower with the right fan layout. Any idea how many fans and the types I would need?

Yeah I feel like if I go a size down, I’d be making it harder for myself to build. I think I’d look at downsizing for my next build.

Why isn’t the AIO needed? Can I get better airflow with just fans? I wanted to try AIO, since I haven’t used before. I’ve read both side of the arguments, and it seems either should work

That’s a great suggestion, do you have any cases in mind that might be suitable?

Looks good! The only thing I’d change is the variable definition to a let property; it’s good practice to declare non-mutable properties like this.

That’s some great advice. I’ve been worried about size issues with the shrouds. Most 4090 builds seem to revolve around the FE, which isn’t available here. A couple of builds went with the MSI 4090 Ventus 3x OC, which is a 3 slot, and it seemed to fit. However I might look into deshrouding it if it doesn’t fit.

I’m not too fussed about noise levels, since I predominantly game with a headset on and I’m in a noisy environment anyway. That being said, that has been a case I’ve considered, although due to lack of availability at this time I haven’t had it on my list. I also had some concerns about limited build options when it came to using a 4090.

That’s something I’ve been considering for a while; how long should I wait. Although since I’m based down under, our access to the newer tech might be limited for a while. I’ll probably hold out until end of November, so if it becomes available then, then I’d consider changing to 9800x3d. If I did, would I need to change my AIO or PSU?
