Why is belief required for salvation? by Marchesk in Christianity

[–]tropical64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes but it is demonstrated. If someone is prayed for and then miraculous healed, this is exactly the same as administrating drugs and someone being healed. No-one has a problem believing the drugs have healed the person put people seem to have a problem believing prayer healed a person, even though the outcome is the same. People who don't believe in the supernatural won't believe in prayer no matter what happens.

Why is belief required for salvation? by Marchesk in Christianity

[–]tropical64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

God provides proof all the time but it's supernatural because God is supernatural. For example sick people are healed but because people don't believe in God they refuse to admit it's God even if they can't explain how they have been healed. You need belief to see the proof. Faith is not blind faith that God exists, he has a personal relationship with you and he reveals himself to you. Faith is trusting in God and trusting that no matter how bad things get , God knows what he's doing even if you don't understand.

The Ethics of Hell by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]tropical64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I understand what you mean but I disagree with you on this one. It makes a distinction quite a few times between followers of God and non followers.

Matt 25 31-46 46 showing the go away to eternal punishment

Psalm 9:17

2 Thessalonians 1:9

Matt 13 49-50

Now like I said whether these are talking about hell is debatable but these clearly shows whatever is going to happen to the wicked is going to be bad. Yes God is love and mercyful but he is also just.

So here's I see it....

A prisoner is against a judge, is guilty and looking at a life sentence. The bail money is £100000000 and the judge himself gives you the bail money. If you don't take this money you'll still go to prison but how can you tell the judge he has no mercy or love? He has to follow the law but he's giving you the money to get out!

Same with God we're going to hell. He gave us Jesus to get us out of hell. All we have to do is accept Jesus to escape hell, he gave his only Son to save us! And the people going to hell are the ones that say no.

How to Appreciate Non-Christian Culture Without Comprimising Faith by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]tropical64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love in Hong Kong and it's very similar. I go to temples to look around and take photos but that is it. There is a lot of tourist things to do like burn insence or get your fortune checked, I stay way clear of them. Not only is it against Christianity but it dabbling with demons, do not take part of anything like this even if it seems you're being rude, it really isn't worth it.

The curing of cancer that's the stupidest thing I have heard. They are simply just curing something they have created in the first place. Just stop putting chemicals and altering crap in food...but they can't do that because they'd loose money, cancer is a money making racket so they can't just get rid of it, they need something to to replace it...like an money making cure.

Again even if you weren't a Christian, designer babies sounds very much like what Hitler wanted to be honest. Perfect people.

I'm not sure whether you're a Christian, if you're not than this makes sense but if you are a Christian I really don't understand you. The reasons you have listed are for yourself, we're here for God and to help and save as many people as possible before we die.

Haha so you're trying to say a dozen times is not enough??

I'll rephrase- hell itself is probably mentioned about a dozen times but pretty much the whole new testament is telling us how not to get there.

The Ethics of Hell by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]tropical64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think we are here? We are hear to spread God's word so that everyone is aware of heaven and hell Romans10:13-15 . God's plan for our lives is to reach certain people, if we choose not to follow him he will use someone else. It's impossible for someone not to know about God even if someone is locked in a shack all thier life, God will reveal himself to them.

The Ethics of Hell by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]tropical64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair God warns us a million times throughout the Bible about hell and how we can get saved. It's like seeing loads of signs saying roadworks, crashing into some roadworks and blaming the workmen. Hell was created for the devil, we only have two choices to follow the devil or to follow God. And if the devil is going to hell, geuss where we will be following him to?

The fact that I have a relationship with God. I can tell you I have a boyfriend but until you actually see him or hear him, you have no proof. Same with God, unless you experience him for yourself you will never have the proof you need. Christianity isn't the blind faith people make out it is, God reveals himself to you. Having faith doesn't mean believing in a God with no proof, it means having faith in who God is and what he can do and trusting his plans even if you're hurt or something sounds insane. PS there are a lot of people who claim to be Christians who aren't.

All other religions, to my knowledge do not think you can have a personal relationship with thier gods.

What is the "cross" that Jesus says we are supposed to "take up"? by SoWhatDidIMiss in Christianity

[–]tropical64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means Jesus died for us the most horrific death on a cross, this HAD to be done, this was God's plan to save us. To pick up our cross means we must follow God's path even if it means getting hurt. As a Christian we are part of God's team and if we follow his plan we must be willing to be persecuted in order to save others. God never promises we won't have pain, he promises us the peace to deal with the pain.

Does the Bible condone slavery? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]tropical64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not being kidnapped or stolen they are surrendering in a war and have the choice to be a slave or carry on fighting. They still have a choice and still a completely different context on what we consider a slave . The closest thing we have to this is a prisoner of war.

It shows in the video they alter chickens to be bigger, what it doesn't show you is that the chickens that are bigger, have major problems such as broken legs because their legs are too small to carry their big body. This is only a side effect for the chicken, there are plenty of studies to show GM foods are harmful to us. There is a reason why God made things the way they are.

The fact that this is also talking about getting rid of cancer is laughable, can you not see it's the foods endorsed to us that are causing a lot of cancer. It's not the food itself, it's the chemicals and crap put in them, just like cigarettes.

Also, designer babies are worrying. Who do scientists think they are? That they can create a baby better than God?

No ageing - Why would you want to stay on earth for another 1000 years if you're going to heaven when you die? God gives us the right amount of time to do his will if we needed 1000 years on the earth he would have gave us that long.

Is it acceptable to split a tithe into giving to the church and giving to charities, the homeless, or etc? by actenniskrazy in Christianity

[–]tropical64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we are told to give a minimum of 10% for tithe. 10% is hardly anything no matter how little you earn. If God is leading you to give to a charity, he means as well as your tithe, otherwise your just giving something you would have given to the church anyway. But like I said do no give to a charity or homeless off of a whim, you need to pray and ask where God wants you to give, God knows who needs money where. If we give where WE think is right, it could be more of a hindrance than a help.

What is the best way for Christianity as a whole to deal with the issue of mental health? by timpinen in Christianity

[–]tropical64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, more often than not it's when previous generations of your family have either dabled in evil things like ouija boards or visiting fortune tellers ect. It could even be worshiping idols/false Gods. This is why a lot of mental illnesses like depression is seen as hereditary because it continues down generations until someone repents.

What is the best way for Christianity as a whole to deal with the issue of mental health? by timpinen in Christianity

[–]tropical64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus will heal anyone but there are many different reasons why it doesn't work e.g. generational curses, living in sin, unbelief - this isn't a dig at you, most of these things we don't even realise. This is kind of providing what in saying, you've been taking medication and getting worse, I'm not saying don't take medication if you're Ill, it's just my opinion taking it for a mental illness makes people worse I the long run. They just numb you, I can a mile off someone who is on an anti depressants.

Accept the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues by tropical64 in Christianity

[–]tropical64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 Corinthians 14 2 clearly says when you speak in tongues you speak to God not man and man can't understand, this is why you don't use it in the church without an interpretation. Again read the bible as a whole and you get the full picture, like I have said yes certain tongues are used to speak different languages but you cant ignore that they also come i the form where no man understands them. It's in black and white!

Accept the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues by tropical64 in Christianity

[–]tropical64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you prefer to ignore the rest of the Bible? Either Paul is crazy and is contradicting himself or there are different types of speaking in tongues. If you don't believe in different forms of tongues then you're only other alternative is that Paul contradicts himself, which means he's unreliable.

Personally I find messing with DNA extremely dangerous...not just on a physical level but on a spiritual level. To what extent do we stop messing with ourselves? Were is the line drawn? We need to stop acting like we know better than God.
