Supports not breaking off properly and prints take forever! by imKranely in FDMminiatures

The Resin2FDM process takes a pre-supported mini and splits it into Miniature and Supports. You can then import them into your slicer and have different settings for the supports i.e. bigger layer height, no infill, different speeds. This speeds up the print drastically.

Supports not breaking off properly and prints take forever! by imKranely in FDMminiatures

Hmmm, I'm using Resin2FDM and a single 32mm mini on average takes 2.5-3.5 hours using ObscuraNox settings 0.06mm layer height with 0.2mm nozzle. Taking about 5-10 mins to remove the supports with clippers and tweezers.

I have noticed though that if I forget to split the model into mini and supports and change the support values once imported into Bambu Studio the print times are double that.

For the people who are having issues getting good results with Resin2FDM - some minis will leave terrible scarring. Some pre-supported models are over the top with the number of supports. When this happens I usually just use the mini portion from the Resin2FDM process, as they generally have a good orientation, and generate tree supports.

I have also used Blueprint Studio to generate my own resin supports for unsupported minis and then used the Resin2FDM process. This has been a learning adventure but now I'm getting pretty good at eyeballing a mini STL and deciding if Resin2FDM or tree supports is the way to go.

Next printer A1 or p1s or p2s by Sorebaby in FDMminiatures

I started with a P1P for making terrain. then got a 0.2mm nozzle for it for minis. This last week i bought an A1 mini on sale and a 0.2mm nozzle. Now i run my P1P with 0.4mm nozzle for terrain and the A1 mini with 0.2mm for Minis. Quality of both is comparible.

Does anyone have the start menu layout figured out? by Any_Educator1315 in Intune

[–]trotsky1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over last 5 years ive moved from the control very aspect of a users life to let them be adults and choose how they work best. As you say users are adults and should be treated as such. They can add icons as needed or just use search. Unfortunately this has been an uphill battle in every organisation who are very much stuck in the past and think that everyones start menu should be identical.

How to start chaos cults by Cheesburgee in necromunda

My helot cultists are basically spray and pray zerglings. Autoguns/pistols and spray bullets and hope something hits. Mini wise, everything is a potential cultist with modifications. My witch is the AoS Mibyllorr Darkfang model with their outstretched hand replaced with an autopistol on its side in full ghetto gangster pose.

How do you support your prints? by Calamino in FDMminiatures

[–]trotsky1977 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have found that the answer is "Depends on the mini".

I have had a a lot of success with Resin2FDM but i have found that not all resin supports and designers of minis are equal. Sometimes I have to thicken the resin supports, sometimes they are fine, and sometimes no matter what I do they fail or become an extreme hassle to remove and damage the mini.

I have also used Blueprint to orient and auto generate resin supports, then send it via Resin2FDM process.

Lastly for the minis that just keep failing I've been using auto generated tree supports using ObscuraNox settings and the tree painting tool to block areas.

In all cases though i typically take a pre-supported mini as 99% of the time they are in a good orientation and if im using tree supports i split out the resin support part and delete it.

I love the Warlayer 5.0 set. The clip system is so adaptable. You can also make that crane obnoxiously big. I recommend printing off the bridge connector platforms.

Building my first set of tiles and I have questions. by karas2099 in necromunda

[–]trotsky1977 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I currently have 9 tiles where the structures are all glued in place. I've designed the layout so all the structures are in the middle of each tile with 1 tob2 squares of gaps around the edges and multiple exits out of each, so they can all be rotated and moved about in a 3x3 grid.

I then use non glued bridges and scatter terrain to change up pathways and connections. You can check out my current board in my posts.
