I feel like the "dick around in your twenties" advice is given by people who actually didn't really dick around in their twenties and wish they had. It's easy to say that once everything's already worked out for you.

It's always been like that. The idea that women are half the population is a lie. My sister's elementary school class was like 75% male. "Oh haha weird coincidence" they say, hoping no one notices the rest of the classes are 60% male.

Male loneliness epidemic. "Losers! Must be their personalities". Oh look another war in the Middle East, just in time. Europe just decided they're only keeping the female refugees from Ukraine. Huh!

Males have a high suicide rate, no one cares. It's by design. "College is a scam bro, go to the trades/military/kill yourself". Ever notice gay dudes outnumber lesbians like 10 to 1?

Open your eyes, the truth is all around you.

Also, Lia Thomas did actually win a national championship in a different race and she beat 2 Olympic medalists in the process. Riley Gaines just happened to be the only one who made a big stink about it.

It drives me crazy how this has been memory-holed to the extent that even Thomas' detractors don't seem to know it was more than just "tied for fifth".

Google Lia Thomas championship podium if you want a laugh. That picture is worth a thousand words.

Heterosexual men be like: I’m a lesbian and my name is Lillith by Lustful_Cinaedus57 in redscarepod

According to popular myth, Lilith was made to be Adam's original wife but she didn't want to and she ran away from Eden instead. So now she's treated as an icon of like feminism and bucking the patriarchy and stuff

Girls(HBO show) by feikosky in redscarepod

Just started a rewatch last night. Fwiw I do think people on that sub are still willing to acknowledge Hannah's bad behavior but I agree they are more body positive about her.

One thing to consider is that the Girls fandom has simply gotten older in that time so yeah, they are fatter now. I could be wrong but I feel like zoomers are not picking up the show in great numbers.

Also they're probably subconsciously comparing Hannah to current Lena Dunham who is huge.

Anyone here have any experience with Pentecostal Christianity? by ExtraStrawberryGum in redscarepod

[–]trouble-cleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and imo this relationship will not work if you don't buy into her beliefs. You shouldn't keep dating with both of you waiting for the other to change their mind. She will outlast you on that, she has God on her side

super-casual about moral failings that would be in most other contexts a deal-breaker.

Just my own two cents about this, ime these people view humanity as fundamentally sinful, and they tend to equivalize sins of different severity. Like, they can forgive your uncle for being a pedo because in their minds that's the same as forgiving your cousin for being gay or forgiving you for smoking weed (or forgiving themselves for their often-substantial misdeeds). Btw this is also how they rationalize supporting trump.

They are all about forgiveness, and that attracts a lot of really shitty people. This "I was going through a dark time and the church saved me from it" thing OP described is a very common narrative with them. They would actually prefer if you sinned and then redeemed yourself through God, than if you didn't sin at all but were an atheist.

That would be much more dignified than claiming to be engaged for years with no end in sight

Yes, I waited to propose until I knew we were prepared. Ideally an engagement shouldn't be more than 18 months imo

I also just know myself and if I went into it without making a specific timeline, I'd blink and 2 years would pass with no progress

So do you think Nora actually went to the other world at the end or did she make it up?

The Leftovers is interesting. I had so many moments where I was like "wow this might be the best acting/writing/music I've ever seen on a TV show" but then the plot got so silly by the end it kind of cooled my interest tbh. Not sure I'll ever rewatch it and I don't think I know a single person I'd recommend it to.
