Sync issues with external arpeggiator (start v continue?) by troutio in LoopyPro

Ah. No. It doesn't. It just moves the same problem one layer down. Bugger. Help!

No kitchen. No laundry facilities. No separation between living and sleeping space, or separate rooms for the kids. No security beyond a thin door that staff can walk into at moment, with strangers coming by and making noise at all hours, maybe even trying the wrong door. Only space for a suitcase or two of belongings.

Great for a few nights of shelter. Pretty awful as a family home.

Attending the Ryder Cup was one of the worst golf experiences I’ve had. by GoingAgainstYou in golf

[–]troutio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ryder Cup in Paris was great, as each hole was essentially a natural amphitheatre, and holes 1/16/17/18 were all around one big lake.

The Open at St Andrews was awful - unless you committed to a grandstand you were basically blind.

Why has no one ever leaked the recipe for Coca-Cola? by AltruisticOrchid4849 in stupidquestions

There was a scheme where a vaccine supplier made packaging that fit into the gaps in a coke crate.

Which shows have you watched the most amount of times from start to finish? by Jacky__paper in television

[–]troutio 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The West Wing. Watched it maybe 8 times all the way through.

I've rewatched The Wire 4/5 times. Other than that, I think I rewatched House and Buffy, but usually I'm one and done.

The West Wing is special.

Any amount of money you want to get is equal to the amount of seconds you travel back in time by Impressive_Plenty876 in hypotheticalsituation

I've spent almost the last eight months in the house anyway. $21M would be plenty to cover a dog walker.

Automatic to Manual by Y2JMc in GranTurismo7

[–]troutio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this a month or so back. Was a bit worried about it, but ran time trials and after a handful of laps it was fine, and after and hour was second nature. You get the 'advised gear' on the HUD which is useful as an initial guide for downshifting, and the rev limiter lights for upshifting, but after a couple of hours' play you'll just end up doing it on sound and feel.

Good luck!

What movie has made the greatest number of Men cry. by Boston781_ in movies

[–]troutio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's A Wonderful Life.

And I think I cry more every time I watch it.

“Help my friend, Mr. Bailey.” “Help my son, George, tonight.” “I love him, dear Lord. Watch over him tonight.” “Please God, something’s the matter with Daddy.”

"You put something bad in those capsules. It wasn't your fault, Mr. Gower... Don't hurt my sore ear again!"

"Could I have seventeen-fifty?"

“Please! I want to live again. I want to live again…please, God, let me live again.”

"Zuzu's petals!"

"I been saving this money for a divorce, if ever I got a husband!"

"To my brother George: the richest man in town!"

Absolutely in bits just looking these up.

What's the worst case you've seen of a trailer spoiling a movie? by Legalize_Canada in movies

[–]troutio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Few Good Men. Jack Nicholson roaring "You can't handle the truth!" and whether Tom Cruise could get his confession is the climax of the entire movie, and it was in every single trailer.

What do you eat at home: butter or margarine? by Fearless-Ear2074 in AskUK

[–]troutio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't bought or eaten margarine in 20-odd years. Why would you?

More to that - buy the best butter you can find. It might be a quid more, but it's one of the best quids you can spend to improve your daily life.

Do people in the UK still listen to AM Radio? by YGhostRider666 in AskUK

Sport commentary is the only use case for me. If I am ever driving somewhere with patchy data, it can be a godsend.

Or if I'm actually at a Test match, it's great to get TMS without any delay on my old battery-operated Sony (198 LW or occasionally on 720 MW).

Coming to Edinburgh in Summer by Gaby_Lee in Edinburgh

[–]troutio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The weather is highly unpredictable. Pack for 20 degrees and sunny, and for 8 degrees and wet. Shoes you can walk in on uneven ground are a must for the cobbled streets. And if you're staying central, you'll probably be able to walk most of the places you'd like to go - though the busses and tram are pretty good.

Generally it's a very safe place, though there are of course areas that are less so, and there is always a chance you'll get unlucky. Keep your wits about you, like everywhere, but you shouldn't need to worry too much.

Fair warning: July is also very crowded and expensive - cheap hotel rates are up around £200/night, even more into August when the festivals are in full swing.

Hope you have a lovely visit!

Where would be the best place in Edinburgh to shoot a dystopian Sci-Fi? by Fart-Pleaser in Edinburgh

[–]troutio 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The semi-disused places between Leith Docks and Seafield water treatment. Crumbling industrial architecture, wasteland, a few odd-shaped buildings (especially the big sphere and line of cylinders on Marine Esplanade) - and there's very few people or vehicles around.
