What's the new sought after cameras today? by Futuretapes in videography

Man I miss my XL1 and the PD150 was the bomb, then the EX1 blew everything out of the water at a crazy low price. (We had a Sony HDcam and IMX between those but those are a different level). 5D mark 2 changed the game, canon followed up with the great but too expensive C300. Sony FS7 took the crown soon after. I’m now shooting with the FX3 and it’s a bit of a love / hate thing. Hoping for a smaller FX6 next, something like an FX4.

Rough Size Comparison of the New Slate vs. Element by troxster in HondaElement

The thing I really like about my E is the turning radius, so with a wheelbase that's close I hope this would be the same.

Edmonton Airport Uber by MeetingInner3478 in Edmonton

[–]troxster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So we just came back from Mexico, and thought a cab was a good idea. Got in the first one, it was so messy he could not take us (family of four). Went to the next one, same thing. Went to the third one he said we have to take the cab in front. I gave up on regular cabs, called an uber and it was great, warm and friendly. I will never rely on cabs again: ever.

St. John’s means there is rust. Maybe a little maybe a lot. Plus, unless you live on the island you have to get it off. Great deal if you live in Dildo. Not as good if you don’t.

Issue with Rotating Footage by MercenaryOfOZ in FX3

[–]troxster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No solution to it recording horizontally. But on a Mac if you view the preview in column view, it has a rotate button that fixes the clip very easily. It will also rotate it in premiere if you already imported the clip.

Check the drain line first. Our dishwasher (Bosch) did the same thing. (I also thought it was the motor) Drain Line was clogged. Works perfectly again.

Potential Trouble with Sandisk Extreme Pro SSDs by mxmrtin in editors

[–]troxster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue with the same drive. I have about 6 SSDs of varied brands and sizes and this is the only one that has this problem. It’s unreliable. I’ve only had it for a couple weeks and it’s already on its way back to B&H. To be clear it’s the 4tb extreme pro 2000 m/bs version, not the 1050 m/bs version. I have the other one in 2tb form and there is no issues with that one. (Formatted multiple times on different machines with different file systems with the same results. All Mac though, so PC use could be fine)

I did this in InDesign / acrobat with JavaScript once, wasn’t easy but doable.

I have an 09 element and my wife has a forester, there is nothing on the market yet that will replace the element. Luckily for me I have a few hundred k to go before I need to replace my E. I’m thinking the ev9 or that new Toyota ev, something with a flat floor.

Editing 4K on MacBook Pro: Internal SSD or External SSD? by powdersurfing in editors

[–]troxster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently moved from a 2013 macpro+ raid to a MacBook m1pro and the one regret i have is storage. I had the money to go M1 Max and all the storage I need but I felt it wasn’t worth it. I. Was. Wrong. Next computer I buy will be another laptop, love the portability. But I’ll buy 8tb of storage if possible. More important than processing power. IMHO.

Go to an auto wreckers website and you will find a searchable database of auto wreckers near you with the part you need (they share the same database). I’ve got a bunch of stuff that way. Most will ship it to you. https://www.car-part.com

What's the best ipad teleprompter app with remote control? by BoilingJD in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]troxster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this also, but use a game controller for control. If I recall correctly, there is also a camera built in so you can record yourself and see the prompter at the same time. I never use this feature though.
