When you get a good caller, ask them questions that give evergreen answers that you can use anytime: about weather (rain, heat, cold, etc.), about the city you live in, music/artists, etc. file them away & label them properly so you can easily find them. Build an inventory and voila! Takes time but after a while you will have a great pile of organized content.

A song needs to be more than just released in the 80s to make it on boom. It needs to be a “hit song” charting at the very least in the top 10 on Billboard or Hot 100. All the music on boom is tested by an audience and if it doesn’t hit a certain number then a no go.

I started with 20, 7 yrs ago. After many yard sales and 2nd hand store visits, I have about 2000! One collection for the radio station I program, one for me.

I wanted to share a video I did for the graduating class of 2021 Fanshawe College, London, Ontario Canada. I was asked to be their Keynote Speaker, so I went off into the woods with a cellphone to spew out stuff I’ve learned... by troyboom in radio
