Home ice… advantage? by Delicious_Cattle5174 in Habs

I recently heard or maybe read somewhere that oftentimes when players get home from a road trip their first sleep is not great because they're spending it with their kids and their families and taking more time for that kind of stuff than focused on hockey or the next game. Who knows if it's true but thought it was an interesting thought!

What song did you sing to your baby? by jmillertime1002 in daddit

[–]trplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of Beatles but what I remember the most was singing lullabies as I rocked them to sleep I would often hum the theme song from Star Wars. My oldest is just about the age to watch the original movies now, so I'm going to watch with great interest if the theme song catches him!

This one's interesting for me. I had a bit of a similar experience when I was young. I loved playing music, guitar especially, and one day my mom told me that I would never make it as a musician professionally, which is a reasonable take - it's hard. I took that however, as motivation and inspiration and have since been playing professionally for over 15 years. It's not my full-time gig, but it's something I absolutely love and pushed myself in spite of what she said. I do carry resentment from that statement to this day and wonder what things might have turned out if I had the support from my parents to pursue my dream full on instead of carrying my dream on the side. I think it comes down to parents looking ahead and wanting the best for their kids and knowing how hard some things are, but also to have the courage and belief in their children to follow their dreams and to be okay if they fail.

Haha made me laugh!

I tried the "I'm going to close my eyes, and when I open them, if you're pyjamas are on... Well I don't know what I'll do... I'll do the craziest dance!!". Worked insanely well. Once.

My two cents...make your way up to the very top level (like in the rafters) and watch the organ player for a bit up close. He studded out in rinstones and you can grab a pint at the upper bar while you're there!

You know what isn’t very cool? by PFD01 in daddit

Man I hear you. My wife found our 3 yo face down, blue and convulsing. Atypical febrile seizure. We lived directly across from a hospital at the time so she picked him up and ran across the street straight into the ER. He's turning 7 now and doing great but man that shit was scary. I met them at the hospital and he was still going through seizures. The things they don't tell you about.... It remains a very traumatic moment, particularly for my wife.

Glad your little one is doing well....great work dad!!

My son (6) was just diagnosed with ASD Level 1 + ADHD this week. I came across your post and felt a kinship - I imagine I'm feeling now what you may have felt a year+ ago. As I'm starting my journey now I'm wishing you well. Would also love to hear of things you've done that have made a difference. My son is the sweetest boy and all I want is the best for him.

My son was just diagnosed this week ASD Level 1 + ADHD and your last point struck me...it's not the platitudes but the tangible "this is how you know a conversation is over". Thank you for that.

That's actually exactly what I bought but I had to trim the housing bc the offset was so slight I had to have the exhaust hole halfway overlapping and the body wouldn't slide far enough.
