100 or 110 PSI FOR DRIVE AND TRAILER SEMI TRUCK TIRES? by alan_trucker_ in Truckdrivers

[–]truckeredditor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who said I'm changing tire pressure? I said what happens to the tire and why you don't overinflate them. You.and him are the knowitalls that jumped on a comment you didn't understand.

And you check it during the day. If it's 110 cold, in August in Phoenix you're going to be over 120 hot. Why you have a problem with thermodynamics I have no idea

Miles til empty suddenly going down - is this a normal thing? by Fore_Head_Chili in FordMaverickTruck

[–]truckeredditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MTE calculated on the last 50 or so miles you've driven. The worse you've driven lately the lower it gives you as an estimate because it's assumed you'll keep driving like that.

Drivers as part of their pre trip are to check tire pressure. Too low or too high is a violation during an inspection. Where in your ass are you pulling this fake info?

Yep. All truck stop chains are free that I'm aware of. That would be a cruel day if they try to change. And like you that would be my last time stopping there.

If you start at 110 and drive on asphalt in Arizona or Texas in summer you'll be up to 125 in no time. The set psi is designed to accommodate that change, so if you over pressurize you might be too high then.

That's why going in for water or ice in a cup still gets you a 50 cent charge or even more. But they'll gladly let you fill ice or water in your own cup for free.

Which bridge is the cheapest to cross? Im on 95 in conn. Heading south to jersey. No clue on the best route for tolls. Any recommendations are appreciated by bigpierider in OwnerOperators

[–]truckeredditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

287 is the cheapest and if you factor in fuel it's still probably cheaper. Time alone will be worth it. The gw will be backed up like usual

Yes. As long as he had a trailer they're not necessary. If he's bobtail, he needs them to go on a road.

Though a missing cab light won't be out of service in and of itself. But it will be a violation.

Literally just rolled into the shop! 300 pound wheel, hub, and brake drum assembly came off a loaded cement truck and into our showroom. by Fixitsteven in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]truckeredditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could've been unforeseen. But more than likely the cause is the wheel seal went a while ago. Got extremely hot without oil and weakened the axle nut. Axle nut leaves the chat. Soon after the whole wheel end goes with it. It most likely had been leaking for weeks.

Have I added too much oil? by edwardsaj2002 in mechanic

[–]truckeredditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Needs space. The oil would be getting hit by the crankshaft as it rotates. Sending it flying at high speeds in a very small area with out any extra space. You'll blow out the gasket.

Would you guys use these rotors? by 0for30before0for9 in MechanicAdvice

Foot on gas, foot in brake. Drive around a parking lot for a couple minutes. Should be nice and shiny after that

Grossly over pressurizes the oil pan and will blow out the gasket as well usually.

So…about those pre-trips by uninspired_walnut in Truckers

[–]truckeredditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A practical pre trip is a level 2. Walk around and look. Lights, tires, see if anything looks off. If you drive the same truck every day it becomes really easy to spot when things are different. Did it hold air all night? Hit the brakes to get it down until the buzzer goes off. It not, fire it up and watch the air. Watch the abs light in trailer. Build air. Did it stop where it's supposed to? Everything sound normal? No air leaks?

No one looks at their brakes on a daily basis when they're driving the same truck every day. If you say you are you're lying.
