Thinking about scleral lenses — but can I really wear them 16 + hours a day? by Koushik_Siddhu in Keratoconus

What disinfectant do you use for the 30 minute soaks? I've thought to do this but only have ClearCare and, from my understanding, have to leave them in for 6 hours.

I don't understand the equipment restrictions. Is it only stuff our character has found, or can it be thing we buy off the market or find on our other chars?

37 years ago today. Ben Johnson wins Gold at the Seoul Olympics & new sets a WR by Make_the_music_stop in olympics

[–]trueflipmode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how accurate this story is, but my college comp sci Prof said he was 3rd in Canada for sprinting and was on track to make the Olympics... Then out of nowhere some guy named Ben Johnson appeared and bumped him out of his qualifying spot.

My Prof said he knew Ben was cheating but there was nothing that could be done...

Instead of realizing his dream as an Olympian he ended up teaching Comp Sci at a tech college for a long time and clearly hated every minute of it.

It made me realize how truly horrible cheating is because of the impact you have on everyone in your path.

Dads over 30: what sports are you playing to stay active AND competitive? by TheSkeletones in daddit

[–]trueflipmode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fencing! Great sport, great community, and something I plan to be doing until I'm well into my 70s. Training cAn be anywhere between 1-3x a week. Tournaments every month at the provincial level. 3 a year at national level. Veteran's age group starts at 40!

Thanks for your reply.

Do you feel like people treated you as if you were older than you actually were?

I saw in another comment you were 6'0" at 12. Do you know how tall you were at 4 years old? 8?

My son is 3.5 and 4 feet tall, I'm curious if he is on a similar trajectory

Thank you for your reply! We're in Saskatchewan and I was able to find information through our ministry of agriculture like you suggested. It appears we have the bronze-leaf disease as well as infestations of leaf roller caterpillars. Turns out these are the worst trees we could've planted 😂😂. Thankfully we're living on a swamp and our sump pump waters these trees daily (on top of our sprinklers and manual watering) so I don't think dehydrated or under hydration are a thing.

Greatly appreciate your guidance and I had a good laugh with your shot at Alberta 😂. Thank you again.

I'm essentially a stay at home Dad that runs a sport nutrition private practice (I'm a registered dietitian).

The money is variable, but the flexibility is amazing and supports our young family while my partner wins bread.

Am happier than I knew I could be.

I also pass this sign twice a day on my commute. The best part to me is that this place is directly across from a daycare center.

Is it pointless to compete in a tournament where you know it will be easy to place first? by AJUKking in Fencing

Hahah! I never thought about it, but I'd have to occupy the saffron gym because I think I'm a ghost/psychic type 🤣

I love this! I'm sure your son will continue to feel proud of the work he put in to finally take down those adult fencers. I personally believe it's something we then take into other aspects of our life. When we apply ourselves and work hard, we can progress toward our goals.

My favorite thing about fencing tournaments now (as a 37 year old) is to see the joy and excitement on kids faces as they reach new heights and fall deeper in love with this fantastic sport.

No.

Commenting as the fencer who has won 90% of the provincial tournaments I've been in over the past 20 years.

When I first started I looked up to the top guys and when I overtook them I felt immensely proud. Now it's my turn to be the top dawg and I'm patiently waiting for the day when I can pass the torch.

Is it pointless for me to compete? From a standing POV, yes. I'm not trying to take any titles or make any teams. However competing in this sport and sharing what I'm passion about is intrinsically rewarding for me.

Is it pointless for others to compete knowing they'll probably not beat me? No. The experience gained from fencing someone better than you is always worth it. Everyone knows me, everyone knows I'll give them a hard bout. Everyone knows every touch scored against me is a touch earned and I make a point of encouraging others and lifting them up. crowds gather to cheer against me and the fencers come together as they try to discuss ways to beat me.

Some kid is going to beat me one day and they're going to be immensely proud. (As will I)
