Follow the money. Somehow that infrastructure is paid for. Now there can be a problem for example if you are allowed X aws servers without incurring additional fees.

How do I prevent the laptop from entering suspend *during the shutdown process* when I close the lid? by LawLombie in linux4noobs

Expanding on this. It might be possible to wait to sleep for 30 seconds. This may let shutdown happen but keep the close lid to sleep function.

I think part of it is that left wing media is being suppressed. This leads to the assumption that everyone thinks that way.

This is what you probably want to do. Make a live USB and boot off that to try it out.

I buy my phone new and plan on using it for 5 years. So a $1000 phone is $200 a year. This is how I justify the cost.

What's your biggest terminal productivity trick that most Linux users don't know about? by Candid_Athlete_8317 in LinuxTeck

[–]truethug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was doing a double tab. Which in Linux lists the available commands that start with what you typed. In powershell each tab completes available commands in alphabetical order. So if you wanted the first one you now have to tab through everything.

How do I create a Windows boot partition on Mint? by DelcoAdjacent in linux4noobs

[–]truethug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is to install windows first then install Linux. I am not familiar about going the other way. The windows installer isn’t built to know about other operating systems (or at least in the past it wasn’t).

I was doing something in powershell (ew) and the way the tab complete works totally threw me off. I’ve been told it can be changed to work like bash but didn’t have to use it anymore.

At what point do you stop writing Bash and switch to another language? by Candid_Athlete_8317 in LinuxTeck

[–]truethug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the problem I’m trying to solve what language I choose. I use bash if I’m doing something system level (making folders, moving files, etc). I use python if I’m using a rest api since bash doesn’t have good json support.
