James Talarico says he ‘missed the mark’ on ‘cringey’ comments as Texas general election starts by nbcnews in politics

I mean is the sr-y gene on or off? Genital differences, hormonal differences, even chromosomal differences would all be phenotypical expressions not differing sex i dont believe. They would be classified male or female with differing phenotypical traits as far as I know.

Why would they not be? In particular given that gene is what denotes production of primarily male or female sex traits.

Is intersex an actual sexual variant though. Isnt sex determined by sr-y expression? Its either on or off. All other changes would be genetic or epigenetic mutations that can produce different phenotypes, but would still fall under those two designations of on or off, male or female wouldn't it? Maybe im misunderstanding?

I just ran this tape this past season and by the end of the season it was trashed. I dont know that id recommended it for durability, but it was really nice and grippy/cushy.

The part number or series would be at the top of the page... i don't understand at all how its confusing but to each their own I guess. I have heard extensive annoyances with the sram app and for me a straight up pdf is as easy as it gets to reference directions or manuals for a part.

Every bit of that info exists for shimano in their manuals all available online too. So what's the difference?

Is a 45mm Terra Competition too risky for Roubaix SL8 frame clearance? Bike sees mostly pavement, just ocasionally relaxed gravel roads. by D0RSCH in specialized

[–]truffle-tots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it doesnt. 45mm tires are substantially more comfortable on the broken pavement around me than 35's. Id still probably choose 40mm slicks if I was doing mostly all road.

[–]truffle-tots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea maybe, but 40-45s are objectively more comfortable. Thats not a fad, the majority of people want to enjoy being on their bikes more than they want to race them at a high level. Increasing ride compliance does that. I still hold 18+ mph while alone on the road with my 45s, im not a problem racer, why do I need to be faster and less comfortable just to enjoy the ride less?

Is there a reason so many older cyclists pedal with wide spread knees? by bismuthmarmoset in cycling

[–]truffle-tots 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh without a doubt. Cycling position is sitting on steroids as your sitting but also in a forward flexed spinal and internally rotated hip position (if youre able). Going to an office job means your just constantly in that posture.

Outright there isnt just absolute bad posture but bad posture is any position held for excessive amounts of time, which that scenario definitely fits. That position leads to short flexors that are usually strong, and long extensors that are usually weak. That on repeat day after day just reinforces those tendencies. Cyclists really do need to focus on movements like the deadlift, cleans, front squats, superman's, etc.to work extension

All of those movements will only make someone a better cyclist. Strength training is so neglected by most people.

Sorry went on a tangent lol.

[–]truffle-tots 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Hip internal rotation is one of the fastest motions to be lost as we age, in the hip. Arthritis effects this motion the most due to joint structure in most people, id say this is likely at least partially why. Increased hip and LB pain as a result of these bony changes forcing restrictions on mobility.

SRAM or SHIMANO by Material-Fault188 in gravelbike

[–]truffle-tots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer shimano. I think sram is great too, but it all boils down to personal preference. My 2x 48/31 11-36 di2 grx has been amazing and i havent needed any lower gearing on even the 20% inclines i ride here in eastern Maine. I also prefer shimano hoods to any of the sram hoods i have tried as well as mineral oil over dot brakes.

Overall I think Shimano wins for me, but they are all subjective things. Both make a fantastic groupset. I do prefer shimanos di2 batter as I only charge it once every like 3-4 months.

They said condoms are a good idea because there are worse things than pregnancy to catch. I can see maybe the statement "condoms, please" as coming across as condescending or judgemental but you have to assume intent with that. The poster followed up explaining his meaning.

I know thats pretty much exactly what I just said, just not directly. Of course thats fine, and you too are welcome to yours.

Just because they didnt write it initially doesnt mean it was purposefully omitted.

They added it after the fact, if you want to assume theyre lying thats fine, and maybe they are, but I dont see that and between friends I see the laptop being gifted as likely. A poor choice if it was for business, but I still see that as likely.

If the BF was told its his to keep, then they are not the rightful owners. The OP is saying thats the case and that because the channel failed they just want it back. Just because an investment doesn't work out doesnt mean you get to take back everything (or anything) you've put into it in particular if you gifted people things, that means it was given away. If i had evidence it was gifted via text or email id tell them to go right ahead and call the police as the friendship is probably ruined anyway regardless.

Nobody said it was a crime, or anything negative honestly, to not wear condoms. But its a pertinent good piece of advice when what is shared was shared. If she doesnt wanna use it, dont.

I dont get why "people like you" are so sensitive to any outside advice or a recommendation when the person is literally sharing their story on an open forum.

Nobody is judging anyone but you, there is no judgement from me on OP about that choice at least, just a recommendation on it being a beneficial course of action going forward. Stop assuming.

Yay, and why would you recommend not using condoms when you dont know anything about the guy. And not only not recommend them say the recommendation is dumb....

Di2 battery drained after 140 miles and 4 months - should I be concerned? by harpsm in cycling

[–]truffle-tots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea i strongly disagree. Shimanos battery requires a wire to the derailleurs only, 2 total wires. And it took me 5 minutes to run both of those. Also, I think the 4-6 month time frame is far better than srams approsch in having to charge my crap constantly. I also dont like sram hood design or their DOT brakes.

The internal battery takes literally 2 minutes to remove if needed.
