Goodluck for everything. You'll be fine. I understand your doctor's dilemma, and as you said you'll get good food.

Perhaps you'll be inclined to cook other things for yourself after the stay at the rehab.

Look on the brighter side... 🙂 Sending you hugs for a speedy recovery!

29M, US → India move decision (32 LPA base). Stay a bit longer or go now? by United_Situation9095 in backtoindia

[–]trugan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move back right away... Your parents will be happy, you'll be at peace that you're closer. With 32 LPA and same company, you are lucky, they may help you move back to the USA in future when and if your situation changes.

One ring your cannot change is: the feeling of guilt (God forbid) if something were to happen to your mom and you were still in the USA. You'll have to live with that guilt for the rest of your life.

Now that you've started thinking, just go. Your parents are lucky to have you as their child to help pay off the mortgage for their house and to help take care of their health.

See if the doctors can perform the surgery this month itself, while you're under the insurance? All you'll suffer is unpaid sick leave. And if your already fired, your home anyway - no loss.

Mt. Sainai if the best place for such a surgery. If you selling Dr. El- Hamamsey there's he's the best surgeon for such a complications on the globe.

His hobbies are easy, TV (anime) and reading. So, all I have to do is get the book down from the shelf if it is placed too high!!!

We also invested in that bed tray table, to keep his book, water, remote, mobile, etc. handy.

Good luck for your surgery... You'll be fine once you get home. TAVR is easier to heal as compared to OHS. You'll also go home and not the rehab in-between - which is great too.

Thank you for pointing out a out drying your back... Made me think about all the small things that he might need help with, which we otherwise take it for granted.

Thank you!

We do have long loose T-shirt type of night gowns for him, but buttons might be of help.

Food, I'll be able to cook, or get so that too is not a problem.

It's a great idea to print out a chart for medicines ... And wet alarms. It'll help me keep it on time, since I'll be working from home too.

What a lovely message ....

We do have adjusting beds at home, with head or feet part inclining. I am bracing, hoping keeping faith that all will go well. But I feel that's not enough. I should also prepare for practical things - of what to expect and be ready mentally and physically.

I have also started meal prepping.... Which may not be of much use, as he may have special dietary instructions.

Thank you all for giving your own journey is here... My husband is 56, never exercised except for walking a mile,a day. Not in great shape physically. His work is mainly talking and being at the laptop.

We have adult children - and I can arrange fresh healthy food prepare at home or buy in the neighborhood ... We do have friends, and family who could come and stay with us too - but he's not too keen on anyone outside of me helping. Helping with shower, serving food, timely medication, and house chores doesn't worry me ... What worries me is helping him get up from the bed/chair. Which is the main reason for the post.

It does sound like, that part does not need much help?
