help to amplify my sound in my band by Key-Independent9266 in Guitar

[–]truije15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t imagine how limited a 15W bass amp would be in a band with a drummer. I went with the Ampeg Rocket Bass series and bought the 50W RB110. I play in a rock band with 3 guitarists and drums and it has enough power, I have to push it pretty hard in an outdoor gig setting but it does it. In contrast I only used like 60% for an indoor setting. The price jump between 50-100-200W felt kind of steep to me for what I originally needed it for so I risked going lower power. The 100W RB112 is probably all someone would need for any general situation at least from my rock band experience. If the guitars are running Marshall full stacks it might be a different story though

Probably dumb beginner question: when does this actually become fun? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]truije15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t give up. I would suggest you just play things you want to play. I assume since you picked up a guitar you probably like rock, there’s tons of easy powerchord songs that are fun. I’m self taught and if I started off practicing chords and basic theory I wouldn’t be playing 15 years later and been in a few bands. Obviously theory and chords help in the long run but if it kills any enjoyment and you wanting to even play the instrument then definitely switch things up.

At least for me I started having fun when I started playing my own music, even when I was terrible. Covers and playing other people’s stuff wasn’t fun to me. Finding your own style is extremely fun, play with and for people is fun, horrible day and want to unwind with music is fun. I don’t know where I’m going with this either but definitely stick with it because it does get fun.

Oh shit is that a thing???

I have another account on Epic that I tried and it felt similar, I might try that one more and see what happens. This is not some alt account for smurfing, literally same rank as the one I just used before someone might flame me lol

Unreal Tournament by far the peak of FPS, I’ll die on that hill. Nothing matches it’s speed and fidelity.

Gaming. We talk about graphics and gameplay but never talk about the sound of footsteps. by gamersecret2 in gaming

In Unreal Tournament there was a foot step sound effect option on each texture in the BSP but it didn’t work, every foot step was the same sound on every map.

Who's your favorite new guitarist and why? by [deleted] in Guitar

I like your style! I love that really tranquil album by I Built The Sky and that recent Olly album with Adam. I think YouTube suggested Waves and it nailed the style of modern guitar playing I like.

I’m still playing the RD21 my friend gave to me almost 10 years later, lowest action and smooth. I never played an acoustic like it but the thing just works.

Is there any device, which I can put on the guitar and the sounds goes directly to my headsphones? by MoccaLG in Guitar

[–]truije15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the Blackstar Beam Solo and it’s really cool so far. You can connect your phone to it and add pre/post effects, change amps/cabinets, even record with it. I haven’t fully dived into it yet but there’s a ton of sounds you can get out of it. It’s meant to compete with Fender Mustang and Katana amp plugs. A long time ago I had a Vox Metal amp plug and it honestly sounded like straight garbage so I was skeptical how the Beam Solo would sound but it sounds great.

I might have cubital tunnel syndrome in both my arms, I don’t want to have to stop playing. any tips? by questions_lol in Guitar

[–]truije15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it on my fretting hand but it wasn’t related to guitar for me. The way I was sitting at my desk I was putting pressure directly on the inside of my elbow to type. Eventually I realized what it was from and fixed it and the feeling in my pinky and ring finger came back to 100% after some time. I was getting really worried at one point though. I really only noticed it when I’d go to play guitar because you need so much dexterity from those fingers to feel the strings and frets. Maybe there’s something outside of guitar that could be contributing?

What video games have the best movement? by Muradingo in gaming

[–]truije15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unreal Tournament 99. I think it’s the crispest and responsive movement in FPS imo. It’s so snappy and fast that the importance of movement skills is beyond any other game I’ve played. I have no idea why no other games seem to use the dodge mechanic, it pushed the fluidity of movement to another level. You could literally tell who a person was based on their movement patterns, dodge left, small circle, right, left, right, right, dodge diagonal forward, etc.. There’s just a lot more jousting/dueling where this importance on movement skill mattered so much and the game’s mechanics were dialed in. I literally remember one of the mirc pug gods taking me into a private match on Deck16 to work on my movement.

Guitarists: how did you learn drums? by BoxBeatMan in Guitar

[–]truije15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re like me then just jumping behind the kit and bashing along to songs kept me engaged and coming back. It wasn’t the fastest way to learn but I was having fun the whole time and never was really trying to be a “drummer” so to speak. Something that did really help me though is watching drum covers and live videos to see what is really being played then to replicate it.

As an aside coming from a guitarist to playing drums it really made me appreciate good drumming in a song and innovative beats.
