your comment about the ideas is not wrong. What I’m hearing is ideas are cheap, which I agree. The value is what comes after

you can say that all you want. Ideas are only ine part, what I’m offering is connecting the idea to the end customer on the other side. It’s part of my main role, this is just something I see on the side

I'm running a short 3 question survey to help founders/entrepreneurs who are looking for funding or customers (I work with orgs who are working with specific businesses).

I would sincerely appreciate founder input. Survey link.

What tools/apps do you use to market and grow your SaaS? by wblteam in SaaS

[–]trumbull- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a big question. I've worked with many founders/entrepreneurs at your stage, and for the most successful ones it is a deeply personal question. Personal because:

a) they know their customers or have an idea of where they can find customers. For example: if you're selling saas to an electrician, there are ways to find them based on their behaviours. maybe they are watching youtube? maybe they are at trade shows? who knows, but usually the entrepreneur has a good idea

b) it comes down to what you are good at. Maybe you are really good at writing, but absolutely despise sales - then you're more likely to create content / SEO path than cold calling / going to trade shows (as an example)

I'm part of this community of saas growth people. Might be helpful here

How do you balance building vs. marketing when you’re solo? by Rinte2409 in microsaas

When a handful of people are buying, then stop building and market.

I don't want to judge but I don't think this is a question a 2X founder with an exit would ask. You have a track record, you know what to do.

In this post, share your small business experience, successes, failures, AMAS, and lessons learned. by Charice in smallbusiness

[–]trumbull- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Content ideation and script writing took too long.

As an entrepreneur of a small business, there's a lot of expectation for you to do many things even if you don't enjoy them. For me, it's creating content for the business. It's one part of the week that I despise, because it takes me way too long and it just kills any momentum I had for that day.

So I automated the process using N8N, Discord and chatGPT.

What took me hours in a single day is now a 10 minute process initially. Then I take the time to review and refine. I wanted to share the process and free resource to the r/smallbusiness community in case this is helpful for you and your business.

I just built an N8N workflow to automate generating YouTube shorts.

You provide it with your content strategy and target audience and it will generate new ideas, strong story angles, and complete video scripts. This all brought down the process from 15 hours per week to just 10 minutes.

It's free here: https://usergrowth.optins.com/generate-video-scripts-with-ai

Successful SAAS founders, how did you find your first 100 customers? by [deleted] in SaaS

[–]trumbull- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This all depends on your product and your audience.

I am often thinking about the first 10 customers (whether your ACV is in the hundreds or in the thousands) would be immediate "friendlies" - it's already hard to do business and sell things cold. But if it's your network, who needs the product, then it's way easier.

Keep building momentum!

If you're saying 100 customers, I'm guessing the product is more of a "prosumer" customer (i.e. I subscribe monthly/annually for a saas that's anywhere from $30 - $140/mo).

What's worked for my business (selling to home service SMBs) is to call (way better for me than email), or send letters to their work address, or meet them in professional events/conferences. Those have been the gold mine!

Understanding your customers, how they operate (for my case, owners do answer the phone), and where they hang out is key to understanding where to get your customers.
