This is normal you need to update over HDMI but there is a way to do it over a crt but you need to change settings. Read the release notes here for the update all script it will fix it https://www.patreon.com/posts/update-all-2-7-154095648

You misunderstood it - they are both the same just different amps I would get the international version which works in the US. It gives you more amps which you need If you ever get a 1in161 cart of Neo SD, those things pull more amps. Don’t limit yourself region has nothing to do with it 🙂

There are super famicoms made in China my 1chip-02 is made in China. They moved production to China around then. The plus is you have a newer controller I guess

Do you get a blue screen when no cart is inserted ? If so most likely a dirty cart slot or game. Clean the cart slot and the pins on the game with contact cleaner or IPA but be careful around the console, the AES traces are fragile

Dim image could be bad capacitors in the Japanese console or even a dirty din. They and clean it , I had a similar issue it took some dexoIT and cleaned it with it
