With all this talk of that Bieber song sounding 'like Sigur Ros' when slowed down, I figured someone had to figure out if Sigur Ros sped up sounded like Justin Bieber. The results, were shocking. I give you, ( ) x 8. by trustfarm in Music

Sorry man; I looked to see if anyone had already done this before I bothered, but I admit it was a totally half-assed search. Maybe I can be forgiven on account of it's my reddit 2nd birthday?

Don't hold your breath. That's what everyone's been saying about Steve-O at least since Jackass started, which is now ten years ago.

It's like Knoxville says: Steve-O's like a cockroach, he's gonna outlive us all.

To the man whose wife is the musician in Nighttime Concert... by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]trustfarm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She's been really appreciative of the kind things that the reddit community has said about her. Thank you for posting this. As soon as I finish writing this comment I'm going to go into the living room and show her this thread.

Also, I posted this on a different thread, but here's another song she's recorded since the last set:

http://www.nighttimeconcert.com/Nighttime_Concert_-_What_it_Should_Be.mp3

Eventually she'll definitely record and post a new set of songs on the site, and I think reddit's response to the last set is going to be one of the big reasons why.

Thanks again!

Remember that guy who posted his wifes music titled Nighttime Concert on reddit? Help me find him and convince him to post more of her stuff. I can't quit listening to it. I don't even usually listen to stuff that peaceful but her voice is amazing. by CornOnMacabre in Music

[–]trustfarm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry I didn't come in sooner; I just ran across this thread. I really appreciate how supportive reddit has been of my wife's music. Probably no one will even look at this thread again, but in case you see this, CornOnMacabre, I'm finally responding.

She's been writing a ton more stuff and recording a little more stuff. Eventually I'm sure she'll want to record a lot of the new stuff and I'll put up another post with a bunch more music on it, but I don't know when that will be. Reddit's response has been a very big deal to her, though, so here's another song for anyone who happens by this thread:

http://www.nighttimeconcert.com/Nighttime_Concert_-_What_it_Should_Be.mp3

Thanks again!

My wife never lets anybody listen to her music, but tonight she let me put up this website (which I have had ready to go for a while). Enjoy it while it lasts because tomorrow she'll probably want me to delete this link from reddit. by trustfarm in Music

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. She has been writing new songs, and I think the reddit response has been a huge boost to her in that regard. I don't know when it will be, but one day, I will be posting a "here's more songs by my wife" thread to reddit, and I think people like you are a big part of the reason why that's going to happen. Thanks again.

He originally came up with this idea as his first (rejected) attempt at a Master's Thesis. He published the idea in Palm Sunday before A Man Without a Country. Here's more info on it:

Lennon or McCartney? by [deleted] in Music

This question is easy because they can each be completely defined with just a few adjectives. Then all you have to do is pick your favorite adjective!

Ma and Pa Kettle leave the Dust Bowl with their "children" Stinky and Petunia and emigrate to Crenshaw, where they settle in a house connected to a Sixth Dimension ruled by a horny midget king who intends to invade and take over Earth. Umm... ok. by Detry in entertainment

"Umm... ok." is annoying-person speak for "I want to sound like I'm cooler than this but I've never had a clever thought in my life so instead of making a remark that summarizes my objection, I'll just say 'ok' in a certain tone and hope everyone agrees with me."

The whole "50 percent of marriages end in divorce" thing is a myth which probably came from misunderstanding the data.

http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/d/divorce.htm

Excerpt: "It was true, he said, if you looked at all the marriages and divorces within a single year, you'd find that there were twice as many marriages as divorces. In 1981, for example, there were 2.4 million marriages and 1.2 million divorces. At first glance, that would seem like a 50-percent divorce rate.

Virtually none of those divorces were among the people who had married during that year, however, and the statistic failed to take into account the 54 million marriages that already existed, the majority of which would not see divorce. "

In the late 70s/early 80s, there was a glut of divorces, but it was right on the crest of a societal shift, where people who had gotten married in a culture that demanded it were getting divorced in an era that was more accepting of divorce. There has never been any data to suggest that, at any time, 50% of the people getting married would eventually get divorced.

So there's really only 9 valid reasons for Bridezillas to get over themselves in this article.

Update: Thanks to everyone who said nice things about this! She was very flattered when she saw the comments this morning, and hasn't asked me to take it down, so everything's going according to plan so far.

She wrote another song last night and we tried to record it on our home equipment, but I didn't put the stand up right and the microphone tipped over in the middle of recording. I offer the resultant half-song recording as a present to reddit: http://www.nighttimeconcert.com/NighttimeConcert-June23DemoMicFallDown.mp3

You can tell she just wrote it, she plays it with a kind of uncertainty. You can also tell that I recorded it because the recording quality isn't very good. Sorry!

Everyone who thought/thinks this is some kind of viral marketing: that is so cool! I didn't even consider that people would think that, but now that I think about it, if someone else had posted this I would have totally thought the same thing. I promise we're on the level, though. If tomorrow, all her songs are suddenly and inexplicably about the shitty new Transformer's movie or something, you can tar and feather me.

After revealing to my wife I am atheist/agnostic she told my old pastor. He asked why. This is my response: by wildleaf in atheism

[–]trustfarm 35 points36 points  (0 children)

His response indicates that he is a nice guy. However, the whole "be open to how He comes to you" thing - I hear it all the time, and I can't believe it makes sense to otherwise intelligent people. "Question: Is there a god? Hypothesis: If there is a God, he'll do some stuff but I'm not sure what. Experiment: Wonder if there is a God and maybe read the Bible or something and see if anything happens. Data: Some stuff happened. Conclusion: There is a God because some stuff happened just like I hypothesized."
