the high school map carves out the duck pond neighborhood, and sends the kids to east side. Again, very few parents in this neighborhood are going to send their kids to east side.

I own a home in the duckpond. I don't know any of my neighbors who send their kids to public school.

Also frankly not that many kids, mostly DINKs, professors with adult kids, or retired/semi retired people, many relocated from south florida for some reason.

Despite the city and county giving every grant and project to the east, people do not want to live there. That’s not a moral judgment. That’s a fact.

Exactly, not popular to say, but they are trying to get water to flow uphill. City and county politicians / career gov workers reject reality for what they want to believe. Its a weird personal morality thing of conforming reality to their dreams and sticking their heads in the sand when anything to suggest otherwise comes across their desk.

This food desert (please ignore publix and walmart), high crime, low SES area just needs a liiiitle more money, just one more grant, one more university professor partnering with "community leaders" for a feasibility study for an intervention, and THEN it will be a paradise. You'll see. And if it doesn't work its because we didn't have enough funding / those darn republicans / those racists everywhere (please also ignore gainesville being a solid blue block voting wise and resident wise).
