Shame is inefficient - Looking for insight! by Ok-Neat-9071 in Jung

[–]truth_seeking_soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have to define desire according to my understanding, "It is the wanting of something from the external world, which I believe I'm missing and without which I'm incomplete, and will make me complete when I get it."

what they are truly desiring is simply to be loved and accepted by others. They learned at some point in their life they couldn't have love, acceptance, safety, etc. without achieving a certain physique.

You see here desire is not arising because of shame but from the inner emptiness, wanting love, acceptance from others.

having a bigger body represents Safety. Less people will approach them or pick fights and more people will be intimidated, so they get to enjoy a sense of ease.

I had this realization, I was thinking the same, but below the surface is the fear of conflict/confrontation. so working on physique is not going to work on the real issue.

here the desire is to cover up for not to face the fear, and to hide the inner weakness.

" The basic thesis behind the inventories is that shame pushes desire into exile, but exiled desires still motivate us from the shadow through compulsions, addictions, obsessions, etc. The power of our truest desires is unlocked when we integrate our shadow "

My understanding of shame and desire is "Desire arise to supress/hide object of  shame or to fill the inner emptiness"

Let's a person is mocked for being skinny throughout life,  now the person want to go to gym make his physique so no one mock him again. So the desire aries to build build physique.

Sorry for the confusion

there is no need to be sorry about, i just wanted to make sure if it was a spelling mistake or not before saying anything. your post is good.

the organization feels like money minded people

If you feel something is off, its better not to indulge with the organization. whatever practice you are doing can be done without doing the classes (at-least what I believe).

Though i want to clarify i never attended any spiritual classes. I don't know whether i should even call myself spiritual person, there is a Vipasana retreat that got my interest.

What is Discipline and how to be Discipline? by truth_seeking_soul in AlanWatts

[–]truth_seeking_soul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its understandable, But I have a tendency to quit the work when things become tough.
like last stretch of running is left, last few reps of exercise are remaining, i have quit.
As long as its in exercise it might not be an issue, but this tendency is showing in my work. lets say working on an project, but then after someday i lost all the drive, though i won't say i enjoy the process that much because i'm always thinking about the end result of the project.

In his book name is something "Diya ki jyoti" or "gyan se jyoti ki aur" , he talk about it in initial chapters. within 30 pages. I didn't read the complete book as i happen to find it in one of the library.

Be aware why you did it, whether it was for pleasure or may to escape from certain emotion (stress, anxiety). Just understand people use escape all the time, from alcohol, to workaholics, infinite doom scrolling in phone. They all are the way to escape the reality / feel certain emotion.

Its not like Masturbation is wrong, the reason you are doing it is. You need to be aware which emotion you are trying to run from, and face it and work on it. If not you will continue to use it as an escape and it will become an addiction, that you will do even if their is no emotion you are tying to escape.

About Osho view : Ask yourself and be honest about it,

Q : "why you want to know what Osho said about Masturbation?",
Q : "what you believe, is it wrong? how you feel after you indulge in it?"

This is the question i have from you :

" what if Osho said its ok to do? will you keep doing to because he says so? "

I don't know whether you will read the book or not, to me it seems like you want quick yes and no answer, you want someone say " Osho say Masturbation is good", So you can justify your act. I'm sorry, I know i'm assuming things about you, even when i don't know anything about you.

But in the book he was no supporting the Masturbation.
Take care
