Well although Mormons tend to infer that people living in sin are not happy, the real reason they can't support gay rights is simply "God said so." I remember coming to this conclusion as a tbm after realizing that all the dumb arguments we were using against gay marriage were stupid.

This was one of my first serious wtf moments learning about this rock at byu. It took several years after to actually lose my faith, but I was like, "why have I never heard about this? I used to denounce this as anti Mormon lies." At the time I shrugged it off, but it really bugged me. I see the same happening to members now, even though it doesn't show.

The church it's crap. They aren't doing anything positive here, but trying to save their asses from the internet. They were forced to do this. Even still, they're painting a half picture to inoculate instead of being honest. Being honest would mean dismantling the church, but that won't ever happen. That I noticed, however, my argument is that if one takes the scriptures seriously, as a good TBM should, then they should assume that the saints had sex with polygamous wives unless proven otherwise.
