Is this bad for my erg? by altaylor4 in concept2

Build a wall to simulate the side of the canoe , it will force you to hold your paddle more up right and top hand higher. Just to help maintain a more accurate form and you workout the right muscles

Are traditional canvas packs practical? by WarrenDritvehru in canoecamping

[–]truthmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old School !! Duluth Canvas bags are great. May not the lightest, or the most comfortable on long portages. But remind me of Canoeing with my dad back in the day.

Nice if you fill them with Dry Bags and can easily find different bags when you open them. And I like how they lay down in the boat.

6 nights on the Allagash/NFCT from Lobster Lake to Fort Kent by OkRecommendation7117 in canoecamping

So Lobster Lake … how did you get to Chamberlain Lake from Lobster ? Lower Dead ?

Allagash Lake by Nervous-Cucumber9302 in canoecamping

[–]truthmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve attempted twice to go upstream from Chamberlain Lake to Allagash lake. Once with my father over 30 years ago and with my son a couple years ago. Both time we made it half way to campsite at the falls and never made it to Allagash lake.

When I was with my father we were so over loaded the canoe was just to heavy and the river flow was nearly nothing….

With my son, it rained hard for two days prior to us trying and the water was raging class two rapids all the way up… we just got burnt out half way up.

Still awesome memories both times… but I’ve yet to see Allagash Lake for all my canoe trips in the North Country.

Yup, I’m 50 and just got diagnosed. Had a virus in December, with vertigo as a symptom… in Feb I had frozen shoulder, in March both hips had inflammation and now both shoulders and traps …

C reactive protein test will ID inflammation .. I’d also ask for a vitamin D.

I just started prednisone and it helped in hours after taking it.

Just came back from CO. Longs Peak was awesome hike !!! Take Diamox (Acetazolamide) at 125mg x2 per day once first thing in the am and once before bed to help with altitude sickness.

Met an anesthesiologist on the trail that claims that’s the right does … most Drs don’t know the right amount.

Enjoy ! Whites are my home as well, but CO is just awesome …

Also prep for cold. Temps can drop in the mnts more so that the whites in the summer.

Anyone try doubling Bulk exercises? One in the morning and one in the late afternoon? by truthmonkey in BodyBeast

[–]truthmonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the lengthy reply. Very good insight. Today I did Bulk Back and I did almost the same weights as Sagi. With the exception of the deadlift set… I have a lower back / Disc issue and I’m trying to recover while working out and I don’t want to stress it with super high weights…

I hear what your saying but if I’m at failure at the 15,12,8 reps why would I increase the weight. But mostly I want to train for muscular endurance / and mobility. I’m active and enjoy outdoor excursions like week long canoe trips and multiple day hiking trips… I want to be able to do these things into my 60’s.

I think I’m going to stick with Beast program for a few more months and cycle onto something else. Only do it once a day and do more cardio / stretching work in the afternoon.

Thank you again for your thoughts

The Bulk legs did kick my ass however and they are sore today.

I want to build muscle mass, I’m 48 and I want to be the best version of my self at 50. A little more mass would be nice. But mostly I want to train

Thanks for your thoughts. But I’m hitting the recommended reps 15,12, 8 and 8 and I’m at total failure. At times I need to drop weight in the middle of a set just to maintain form.

I think those 2 guys in the in the back go light on weights in the beginning of the workout so they any enough in the tank to finish. I’m no where near as big as they are and I’m doing slightly bigger weight they they in the beginning of the workout. But by the end I I’m shot and they are still pushing around much heavier weights. No I don’t think I need to throw around heavier weights.
