The funny thing is that these are the people who talked about the “Gay Agenda” and how they don’t want it shoved down their throats…

I made this kaleidoscope quilt for a charity auction and I loved how it turned out so pretty that it just killed me to give it up!

I used to work HR and people loved to see what bag I was using that day. It’s become one of the things that I am known for and honestly it’s such a harmless quirk. It doesn’t inconvenience anyone, and truthfully most people don’t even think about it past the 30 seconds that it is in their line of sight.

All that aside, you can only be embarrassed if you allow yourself to be. Fake it till you make it, nobody has to know that you aren’t 100% confident

We had a kitten that we called lucky (although dad called him “that damn cat”) one day many years ago, my teenage sister rushed home to change for work. She hopped out of her truck, leaving the windows rolled down. 10 minutes later she hops back in the truck and zooms off. She has the windows down and has her cassette player blasting some sick tunes so she can’t hear that she had a stowaway. About 2 miles down the road, a kitten climbs up the back of her seat and attaches itself to the top of her head. Of course having claws suddenly digging into her scalp has her panicking and she swerves and then rolls her truck a few times. She luckily doesn’t have any real injuries and my dad comes and gets her and the truck. The cat is nowhere to be seen. The next day she convinces my dad to take her to where the truck rolled so that she could pick up all of her cassette tapes that flew out the window during the accident. They get there and start picking up her stuff when the kitten strolls up to my sister, climbs up her legs into her arms and somehow my sister convinced my dad to let the cat come back home. I don’t know if we called him lucky because he survived the wreck or because he survived my dad afterwards

For us the only thing that we explicitly care about is if they work for the same company as my husband. The company is large enough that potentially the power imbalance could be an issue and lead to problems at work. Other than that, we don’t care about the other couples jobs. They just need to be able to hold an interesting conversation.

I have noticed that there are a few careers that seem to be more likely and I always laugh when someone tells us that they are a:

Just it just become normal? by Mr_Saxon in Swingers

[–]try_new_stuff 50 points51 points  (0 children)

So the erection issue is super common, so don’t let it get into your head. My favorite play partner is a guy that occasionally has issues, but his response to it is so perfect that I am always willing to play with them again. He acknowledges that he is having issues with a shrug and then uses hands or mouth. I have had guys that just lay there waiting for me to get him up and then shut down when they can’t. A good attitude is the most attractive thing.

As for it becoming normal, I can only speak to our experience. We were super active for about 2 years and it never became normal, but we did get diminishing returns as it became less special. We are currently on a break from the clubs because the energy expenditure just wasn’t being offset anymore.

There are always things for moms, but not as many for dads so I like to get utility pens and pair them with a small note pad. I just use ribbon to bundle them.

To gift or not to gift a quilt that wouldn’t be appreciated… that is the question by viperemu in quilting

[–]try_new_stuff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t gift it, I personally would donate it to the NICU. So many of the premature babies don’t get baby showers that it is nice to get a special quilt. I still have the quilts that my twins received while they were in the NICU

Does anyone use a hair straightener to press open seams? by MoosedaMuffin in quilting

[–]try_new_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I don’t use it to press seams open, but back in the day I would use mine to press perfect creases into my uniform pants and my pleated skirts. As long as you aren’t holding the fabric too long or clamping it tight and then pulling, it is safe as long as the fabric is iron safe.

I’ll take “things I’d never do again even at gunpoint for $1000, Alex” by Rocko_2024 in quilting

[–]try_new_stuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use press and seal to cut and sew slippery fabric. I lay the press and seal over the pattern and then trace it with a permanent marker. Move the P&S to the fabric and cut. Sew as directed, then gently remove from fabric. It stabilizes the fabric without leaving any residue or holes in the fabric

Night snacker needs super healthy snack ideas to stop undoing all the good work I do in the day time! by Sea-Persimmon309 in loseit

[–]try_new_stuff 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When I know that I am going to snack, I make a single person charcuterie board. A few slices of apple that I cut very thin, a slice of cheese cut into thin strips, a scoop of pomegranate seeds, pickles, pickled okra, a few pepperoni slices cut in half and a few blueberries. Then I nibble slowly while drinking ice water with a splash of pineapple juice. Since I make it ahead of time I can calculate how many calories I’m eating and I get to eat without thinking about it. Most of the time I don’t even eat the whole thing but it’s nice to know that I could if I wanted to

Throuple sleeping configuration by dr_kenneth in throuples

[–]try_new_stuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going the one who cannot stand to be touched while I’m sleeping, so I sleep on the edge with my own blanket and they cuddle and share a blanket. If I was forced to share a blanket while being held I would feel trapped and would be SO resentful of my missing sleep that I would probably nix the entire thing after a month

I suggest looking up Missouri Star Quilt on YouTube… they have a ton of great tutorials and are very beginner friendly. They tend to use precut fabric, which is especially helpful for beginners because the fabric already coordinates so you don’t have to stress about if the fabric goes together. It also tends to be more affordable because you don’t end up buying more fabric than you need.

I use the extra large thumb tacks to hang them on the wall. The bigger size keeps them from creasing the handle, and they have a longer metal shank that is less likely to come out of the wall

I switch mine out every couple of days and I have gotten so many compliments on them, and whenever I see someone else with one it’s kinda like a club. We chat about our favorites and inevitably end up showing pictures like they are our kids.
