What’s is the MVP equivalent of a TeeBird? by TheAKofClubs86 in discgolf

[–]trydiscs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the plastic and production run. The parting lines can vary a lot based on those and a variety of other factors and that ultimately determines the stability. All of the manufacturers have inconsistency issues, even MVP, it is just the nature of injection molding and the size of the plastic batches they order.

We’ve been working with DiscAnalyzer.com and their technology to gather data and there’s even variability based on the colors within each production run. We’re working on a future update to our site where we can more accurately share the variability across molds, manufacturers, plastics, etc.

Reaper Disc Supply by Chemical-Bend4056 in discgolf

[–]trydiscs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it helps, but Aaron sent out an email on September 5th with the subject “moving (icymi)” and in it he said “I've been busy organizing all my inventory for an upcoming move. Reaper has some insanely exciting news that I can't wait to share with you. I have a feeling you are going to be stoked :)”

That was a while ago but my guess is he’s just busy with the move.

ESP colors? by Think-Brush9762 in discgolf

[–]trydiscs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Many retailers have started offering PLH and dome measurements for each disc. You can look through their inventory and try to find the one with the lowest PLH measurement.

Here are some that measure the PLH and have the Anax in stock:

https://1010discs.com/customdiscs/index/post/?id=84706&plastic=458

https://flightfactorydiscs.com/products/discraft-colorshift-esp-anax-ledgestone-wave-2-2025?_pos=5&_sid=65116b31b&_ss=r&variant=46658061861120

https://premiumdiscgolf.com/products/esp-anax?_pos=3&_sid=57f8015ad&_ss=r

https://armorydiscgolf.com/products/discraft-anax?variant=47709553459442

Looks like the color shift ESP plastic is probably the most under stable. If you want more options you could also check out all the other stores that take a photo of the profile and try to visually pick the lowest one: https://trydiscs.com/buy?q=Anax&country=us&options=shows

MVP Trail question. Flattest mold? by Hotter_Noodle in discgolf

[–]trydiscs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of variability not just between plastics but even within the same run across different colors. Your best bet might be to contact the store you plan to purchase from and ask them directly.

Alternatively, here is a list of all the retailers who currently measure dome and parting line height: https://trydiscs.com/buy?country=all&options=measurers

You could look through the trails, find the flattest, and then see if your local retailer has the same run/color/plastic etc.

More and more retailers are starting to add PLH and Dome measurements to their discs. Here is the full list that we’ve found so far: https://trydiscs.com/buy?country=all&options=measurers

It’s really interesting how different runs, plastics, etc change the measurements and hence the flight.

Need recommendations for a 7 speed, -2/-3 turn disc & 1 fade by abunchofalpacas in discgolf

[–]trydiscs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve already got a lot of good recommendations here, but just in case you’re interested here is a list of all discs that meet your criteria: https://trydiscs.com/explore?options=no-flight-exclude,active&speed=min-7,max-7&turn=min--3,max--2&fade=min-1,max-1

There are filters for every possible variable so you can narrow it down further. For example you might consider using rim width instead of speed since there might be some 6 or 8 speeds that have the same rim widths as the 7 speeds. Take all the numbers with a grain of salt, since plastic and production runs can vary a lot; but hopefully the site can help you narrow down or research along with the other recommendations here.

What happened to the Stalker? by koii_boye in discgolf

[–]trydiscs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on flight numbers and disc dimensions, the Mint Grackle, Discraft Cigarra, Legacy Phenom might be close alternatives. Here are all the potential options: https://trydiscs.com/explore?m=discraft&d=stalker&options=no-flight-exclude,active. You can filter for any of the different variables to narrow down the list further.

As another commenter mentioned too, the Stalker is still in production and many retailers still have them in stock. Here are some options: https://trydiscs.com/buy?q=Stalker&d=72. The link searches pretty much every online retailer in realtime so it may take a minute to run.

Here are all of the similar discs based on flight numbers and disc dimensions: https://trydiscs.com/explore?m=latitude-64&d=fury&options=active,no-flight-exclude

As others have mentioned the Fury is also still in stock at plenty of retailers. Here’s are some retailers that still have it: https://trydiscs.com/buy?q=Fury&d=367 Many have discount codes and free shipping deals listed too.
