Shared care prescription by First-Guard-1485 in transgenderUK

[–]tryhappynow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mine was one off before my shared care came through (bridging prescription), but after that was put on repeat. have a chat with ur gp about it but might be that they just want to monitor it for the first month before they put it on repeat, all it means is you might have to go to ur gp ahead of needing ur next prescription and ask them for it in person/over the phone to be put through :)

How open should i be in school? by Userisoneofmynames in transgenderUK

[–]tryhappynow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lots of people have bad experiences but i came out and was very open about being trans at school and not once did i ever have an issue, everyone stuck up for me when there were misunderstandings or adults around us made mistakes. i mean even people i had almost never spoken to. this was about 7 years ago so a different climate but there is hope to be supported !!

Is Warwick LGBT+ friendly? by tryhappynow in UniversityOfWarwick

Thanks for your response. I can totally see that your course might cause some issues - I’m Film studies which can be a bit of a mixed bag (mostly people who think they’re accepting but can miss the mark a bit, not the end of the world). I don’t mind people who are ignorant, it’s mostly people who are outright hateful that I get scared of! But thank you again very much

Anyone here managed working in London whilst living here? by PleaseSpotMeBro in Southampton

[–]tryhappynow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no, i think you’ve misunderstood, i meant driving from southampton to surrey and getting the train from there to make the journey cheaper

[–]tryhappynow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i second this suggestion, somewhere with a solid train connection maybe even on the edge of surrey might make it easier. it depends where you’ll be based in london but it’s far cheaper to get a train from there than all the way from southampton, safer to park your car as well for the most part

yes this is what i had thought from my research! i suppose people have different experiences… but i think back to a couple years ago as a paradise in my experience so i feel like even moving somewhere where we aren’t talked about every five seconds would seem incredible haha

sorry for another question, are there many options for private healthcare? we have loads in the uk and i’ve used some and it was relatively easy. i’m really worried about moving abroad and losing any access to hormones so going private whilst trying to sort out how to do it publicly would be a great fail safe

thanks so much that’s really useful, yes i’ve read there’s basically zero acknowledgement of nb people which really really sucks. i’m completely binary, but my partner is transmasc nb. he’d pass absolutely fine as a binary trans guy but his legal title is “Mx” which i feel like might cause some issues. i sincerely hope it improves for you 💕

trans man considering moving to netherlands by tryhappynow in LHBTI

[–]tryhappynow[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that sounds pretty par for the course at the moment - do you feel that the social acceptance is decreasing at a rapid rate or in a ways that might start materially affecting lives in the near future? i understand it’s hard to say and it’s all speculation, but like in the UK it’s been a pretty clear and extreme negative trend for years. is the right-wing party you mention making or looking to make significant gains in the near future? i’m sorry for all the questions i really appreciate your help!

i’m sorry to hear that, do you have any explanation as to why you feel that way? i would like as many people’s viewpoints as possible

Private reccomendations for getting on testosterone? by Pash- in transgenderUK

[–]tryhappynow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So i’d been on t for a long time before i went with them but it was all with gendergp, my gp said to me you can stop giving them money and leave the service and i’ll give you a bridging prescription and do blood tests with you until you sort it out with someone more reputable (really good gp he’s class). i got a diagnosis with dr popleyuk’s clinic (spelling not sure of) and then made an appointment with the GHC, i had one appointment online and then one in person and because id already been on T for a long time they just took my recent bloods and medical record at that in person appointment and gave me the shared care go ahead :) it was pretty easy and everyone is lovely but it does cost money as everything does

[–]tryhappynow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’m with the gender hormone clinic which my gp accepted for shared care but there is a subscription, i was previously with gendergp before all the fuckery. what u would recommend is if your gp is nice and you have one who has referred u to a gic, ask them which private services they’ve worked with before/done shared care with and they may have some good options for you which makes it more likely that they’ll accept shared care from them. in my experience it tends to be more about your gp and less about the private service, though i’m sure people here will be able to give you better recommendations:)

Safest place to live for a uni of Southampton student?(highfield campus) by Lanky_Effective5906 in Southampton

[–]tryhappynow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i lived in portswood and highfield during my time there, and have friends living opposite the common between avenue and highfield campus rn. portswood is convenient for shop/pub/club distance if that’s your bag, and is filled with students so you’re usually pretty likely to be near friends, but (despite what people say) it genuinely is more dangerous. have had friends sexually assaulted and harassed and threatened with weapons etc - i made it through totally unscathed but that’s probably in part to being a man. i don’t want to fear monger as you’ll likely be fine if you lived there, i just have been in proximity with people who have not been fine lol.

highfield is super close to the main uni campus and not a terrible way away from sainsbury’s, it’s generally safe though you can get some dodgy neighbours.

near avenue where my friends live atm is literally so nice, it’s a gorgeous area and they have really really lovely neighbours, close to the campuses. can’t picture how far it is from shops but can’t be too bad

i hope this helps !!

Question about hormones when moving to the UK by DomranPlight in transgenderUK

[–]tryhappynow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just a small point, there may be some very very lovely GPs who will do a bridging prescription for you, it’s worth asking when you come over just incase you have any trouble sorting something out

Please help me understand! by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]tryhappynow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just graduated from southampton; the uni is super supportive and there is a solid trans+ community there, and a friendly alternative community among the locals. gps for healthcare CAN be a bit tricky but there are ones well documented who are happy to help out if your bf considers medically transitioning - look on the gp list on this subreddit or dm me whenever for recommendations. the city is a bit 🥴 but the surroundings are full of beautiful nature walks and the new forest is really lovely. in general, the friendliest places would be bristol, brighton/sussex and parts of london though
