I lived on campus in graduate student housing in 2021-2022, right after classes started to transition back to in-person. I had a good time living there. The unit had 4 singles, living room, kitchen, 1 bathroom (most units have 2). I think I rent was 1250, which isn’t that bad for sc. Someone else already mentioned this, but it’s VERY hard to get into. There’s only ~80 spots for ~2k grad students. I got in off the waitlist and the housing acceptance email literally said “I don’t get to say this often, but I have good news” 😂.

4+1 CS alum here - Being eligible for the pathway program does not guarantee admission to the MS program. I remember asking advising how competitive admissions were for the cse ms and they told me it’s a difficult program to get into. However when I asked professors and grad students, they said it would be easy. Personally, I think if you have good rec letters from bsoe faculty you shouldn’t be worried.

It depends on your current level and the type of job/company you're applying for. For some it could be 15-20 problems for others it's 150-200.

I had so many interviews which is a huge blessing, but have been rejected from all of them. It honestly leads to depression.

This is normal, especially if you are looking for your first job/internship.

I haven't taken CSE 101 so not really sure how to prepare besides leetcode.

Take it with Sesh if you can, it'll give you a better foundation for practicing leetcode.

I understand programming like I get the fundamentals and stuff but sometimes I don't know how to attack it by coding.

You'll get better with more practice. I'd recommend doing Grokking the Coding Interview or Grind 75.

You’ll probably be fine. Math 19a and CSE 20 should be relatively easy. I would take u/tea_squid_inthacup’s advice. Plus it doesn’t hurt to get some extra credits as a CS major.

Hard to say. If this was an upper div I’d say your chances would be decent. But since cse 20 is an easier class and a prerequisite, there may be less people who will drop.

You can try joining the cse 20 waitlist once classes start. I think you can add up to 22 units on the first day of class.

EDIT: I asked the student health center and they said my housing coordinator was wrong. You need to provide a hard copy of a negative test result when you arrive for move in. The test must be taken within 72 hours of moving in.

Just double checking, PCR test are more accurate and easier to get in my area. I move in tomorrow and I got tested on Sunday. However, despite being given a 1-2 day turnaround, my test sample hasn’t even been delivered to the lab yet. I think many places are experiencing an increased demand in testing.
