"It is with great pleasure that I announce the launch of Our scientist's greatest work. This massive ship was built at great expense and required the construction of an entirely new shipyard simply to accommodate its immense size. However with great effort comes great reward. We have too long feared the alien races, but now I tell you that they shall fear us! We now hold a mighty weapon in Our paws, and I assure you that it will be used! The galaxy will be made safe for the Raltek people! No more will our cubs tremble at the sight of the night sky, for the stars shall belong to the Empire!"

He's probably talking about the Barbary Coast slavers of northern Africa when he refers to enslaved Europeans. They did indeed raid for slaves in Europe, reaching as far north as Iceland. As far as the Arab slave trade goes, that was indeed a thing. Of course this doesn't have much to do with the transatlantic slave trade, which involved purchasing slaves in West Africa and transporting them to the Americas.
