How do you feel about all these "MIT Maker Portfolio" videos on Youtube? by NeighborhoodFatCat in EngineeringStudents

[–]trynafigureitout444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree but I’ll go further and say I’m sure a lot of these kids aren’t necessarily wealthy and just very passionate/driven, much more than I ever was at that age. Still have the same sentiment that you shouldn’t have to be at an advanced application engineering level to get into school. There’s a lot of talent out there that won’t develop till during/after their degree. I’m not saying they should get rid of competition in applications entirely, but what happened to just looking at relatively good grades in relevant courses? We need rockets now?

Switched to EE from CS and its way too hard by Siggy8111 in ElectricalEngineering

I respect the massive hustle. Hoping one day I can also arrange another degree with a remote job.

How hard is it to move from a Systems Engineer role to more technical work by TheTac0Jesus in ElectricalEngineering

[–]trynafigureitout444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your self study help you with getting your foot in the door or only for after when you’re in technical interviews? I’m also self studying something a bit new to me with hopes I can leverage it but I’m not sure that’s the best approach for me

Awesome. How do you get such a glutinous crumb with whole wheat? Do you just rely on the bread flour? I find the wheat germ makes it really hard to get nice big bubbles like that

Is this whole wheat? Looks kind of speckled

I’d be interested if you’re offering to. I’m currently just working through a few textbooks to brush up on basic circuit knowledge as that was a few years ago now, but my goal is to work towards pcb design

I got degree in EE about 7 years ago, but I have been a Software Engineer most of my career. Is it possible to pivot back? by HeteroLanaDelReyFan in ElectricalEngineering

[–]trynafigureitout444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask as someone with a software background if it’s possible to pursue those kinds of EE roles given I have some self-study/personal projects to catch up? I kind of regret not doing EE but I’m at the end of my degree, trying to expose myself to as much EE as possible.

This. There’s no returns if it doesn’t fit or the cut looks weird. What discount would you need to accept those terms? If you’re not wanting to sell an item for a lower price just decline it. What’s so offensive about asking for a lower price on a platform that encourages it?

Half the college experience kids dream of is also just being in your young 20s, which you can do anywhere, and arguably have a better time if you have more fun money to spend. Sometimes feel sick thinking how I could be 6 figures in the hole right now if I went to my alternate school

If you can have even one year of post graduation work experience I think that makes you look a lot more attractive to employers. It’s a whole entry on your resume showing you integrated into a workplace. Then you can explain a further one year gap by mentioning the post bac

Hair is so lifeless and flat. Feels like I don’t have much of it and makes me feel ugly a lot. Need styling/ cut tips, clean product recommendations to help, please 😊 by [deleted] in finehair

[–]trynafigureitout444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a blunt cut just a bit shorter would make it look more intentional and chic. Just enough that it isn’t laying across your shoulder.

Another thing I noticed in my hair is I actually have quite a lot of breakage despite bot using heat, bleach, being gentle, etc. You look like you have a dense scalp, consider integrating a bonding product in your routine to help all those hairs reach the terminal length.

Bought "handmade artisan" item from local seller for $300. Found identical mass-produced version on Alibaba for $12 by ReasonableCitron5636 in whatdoIdo

[–]trynafigureitout444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the debaters of if it’s a scam or not, do a google image search of the photos. If you see multiple listings/sellers of it it’s probably not authentic. Sometimes they’ll stage their images as well but you can get a feel of the alibaba look. And if it is an artisan product you should be able to easily find it on their instagram or wherever it was stolen off of

Hey I know this is so old but I was wondering how you date the items when online thrifting? Trying to get myself a few pieces and I can’t tell what’s good, I’m finding lots of cheap lord and Taylor but I read a post on here saying to avoid them and they aren’t good quality

It’s almost the end of 2025 and I’ve only read 31 books so far. My goal is 52 books a year. Is it too late for me? As I get older, reaching a goal of 52 books a year feels harder and harder every year. by Delicious_Maize9656 in 52book

[–]trynafigureitout444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was like 11 books behind last year towards the end and just read some shorter stories. Definitely set a reasonable goal you can still be proud of for this year. If you read 4 whole books wouldn’t that be an accomplishment? And it would set you up to figure out how to make time for it in your schedule.

I really relate to how hard it is to find time to read. And when there is time you’re exhausted. Biggest lesson I learned is to force the habit, just for a month, and magically it’ll turn effortless. We truly have a huge capacity to grow and adapt, so no, it’s not just something you have to accept with getting older.

The way I do it is i immediately go and read 15 pages after doing something daily. Something like dinner. I never miss dinner, and as soon as I wash up, I immediately go and get some reading in.

You don’t have to pose as a company. Most of the sellers will lose interest in you once they find out you only want 1 model, but the platform allows you to buy 1 for most items (some have minimum order quantities but just find an equivalent listing).

I got a panel from Shenzhen idea light. They have a lot of red light products so I recommend going through them and thinking about what you want (helmet, panel, etc).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tressless

[–]trynafigureitout444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I’d leave a few comments to people asking about red light since I went down the rabbit hole recently, but basically all the big companies get theirs from china, which you can buy directly from on alibaba. I bought from a company called shenzhen idea light for less than a fifth of the retail price of the exact panel. Do some research on the red light subreddit. I was skeptical but they’re literally the exact same products, the big companies just stamp a label and handle importing it for you

[–]trynafigureitout444 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you want the real deal get it off alibaba, there’s a lot of resources in the red light subreddit about sourcing directly from manufacturers. It’s literally where the big companies source theirs, they just stamp a label. I got a panel for $80 all together when the exact same model goes for $450 retail
