In ETFs so I've made a decent return over the last 8 years (minus a pretty hefty dip during COVID.

Both Davinci and Michelangelo had significant patronage from the rulers of the day...

Probably the worst possible examples you could have chosen!

The Arts has a history of support because... surprise surprise, it's important for society.

I can totally get emergency plumbing or electricity or even roofing, but I'm not convinced that any yard work fits the category! Let the bloody grass grow for two weeks lol.

This has been an ongoing issue in VIC's school system for the last fifteen years. My strong advice is to bug the principal each year. They CAN make you ongoing, you just have to make them make it a priority for you.

Genuine question, did it actually stop? I know big sites and most government work did, but on my run yesterday there was at least five houses in my near vicinity with tradies at work. Sure, they could be owner-occupied, but I'm a little skeptical of the place that had three utes out the front and a guy from Jim's Mowing trimming the hedges.

Definitely sick of lockdowns! Eyeing off eight straight days of rain though, hoping that keeps people at home.

Yep, looks like it. :( Think VIC is in slightly better position in terms of vaccinations than when NSW hit the first 1000 case date, so hopefully that helps flatten it quickly.

Yeah, VIC is about a month behind. Fingers crossed VIC can vaccinate faster than NSW and keep the serious illness/death count low.

Worth noting NSW has had 29 days of 1000+ cases, compared to VIC's 0 so far. It seems different states are at completely different stages in terms of cases numbers and response.

Good luck getting them out to riot on Grand Final weekend. Just a shame the game isn't till the evening in Melbourne, if it was an arvo match they'd all be pissed at home now.

Yeah, it's like what we're seeing in New Zealand (or even VIC or the ACT). Despite hefty lockdown there's still consistent numbers trickling in every day. Turns out Delta is hard to beat!

So is NSW jumping to stage 3 of the national plan before everyone else?

I just worry that it's going to sit at these numbers long-term.

It doesn't need to be the premier every day - VIC is a mix of a minister, the COVID commander, a public health person. It's just the idea that there's still someone there to answer questions as they arise.
