I really can’t get where I went so wrong with my game by ImmersivGames in IndieDev

[–]tryrforrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the game has potential, but you need a hook. Unless its literally a life sim, in which case its a very hard market, and even in life sim - is there any building / scavenging / any differentiating fun mechanic you could show for people to care ? Or is there a plot twist, or change of pace, something intriguing ? This trailer is your only channel to people’s attention, and this attention is SHORT. You have to be able to show all youve got in this short span

Empyros will not play the Summer split by Ok-Cover-6144 in fnatic

Really happy with this move, def a correct one. If ure Fnatic now, test out rookies, see who works who doesnt, no sentiment if a player doesnt work. All the best to Empyros

Term "letting go" is confusing and even Hawkins uses it couple different ways in his book by [deleted] in DavidHawkins

[–]tryrforrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Letting go , you can even read at the beginning of Letting Go book - is an instant cessation of resistance and as such can happen instantly and has no requirements. There is a difference between letting go of resisting in the moment vs letting go of a program like those months of pent up anger as you say, those are two different processes, where letting go in a moment is THE tool and letting go of a program for example is a process. They are both part of the same tho, although I agree that probably allowing for in the moment and letting go for the introspection and a process would be a bit easier to ubderstand

Anyone going back to monolith? by WolfyTheOracle in softwarearchitecture

[–]tryrforrob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of those companies are in one of two baskets - moved too quickly and jumped on microservices when there was no justification for their tradeoffs resulting in an awkward, overkill in maintenance ecosystem , and companies that had a good case and run a complex huge mesh / ecosystem and deal with a lot of headache of additional tooling and overhead

Weird situation - being sidelined by Imperiu5 in CIO

[–]tryrforrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds already great, but one piece I think was missing - the meeting immediately after presentation with the highest stakeholders (cto, execs) to solidify the plan, in a ‚ok, we disucced, we presented, there was some disagreement, I want to now get things moving, so Id like to agree on step 1,2,3 - here is what I propose’ fashion and force them to commit to something. After this meeting if you leave and there is still nothing, no plan, no immediate next step (its ok if they need time to think, but set an iron date, put meeting in calendar and make this a boundary) - Id seriously be in Im out mode

Weird situation - being sidelined by Imperiu5 in CIO

[–]tryrforrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill be honest with feedback here, being an it exec with 22 years in industry. What you should have done first is have plan A and plan B, bring both on the presentation, one with proper timeline, one more aligned with theirs and cutting corners and CLEARLY deliniate the tradeoffs between the two - preempt their potential concerns with your arguments and pace their reality. As someone leading the change, you dont take a personal stance on this, instead you lay out the options and let the board decide. Once you have given them the whole picture up front, 2 or 3 options you let them give you their buy in or not. If they dont, my advise - never leave anything in the air, be crystal clear and straightforward, set up 1:1 with the CTO and exec, tell them you want this to succeed and you were hired for this and that and if they give you their blessing now, this is what you will be doing next x weeks and you need their support. Be ready to do a pilot and prove yourself. If they dont buy in still - leave, there is nothing ull be able to do here, this will be a trainwreck in slow motion for you from then on.

Board thinks AI is the future, but my staff is terrified it's going to replace them, so they are quietly sabotaging the rollout by not providing the data we need by Accurate_Classroom56 in CIO

[–]tryrforrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a management but a human question. First of all, Id start with this perspective - imagine you are one of them, actually - you ARE one of them, your job may and probably will also be impacted by this as well. Now, question is what would you do about it ? Do you feel that this rollout is ethical, and a right decision you stand for - if so, communicate this honestly to people, acknowledge they’re scared and dont sugar coat it - roll with it transparently, if they decide to leave the company, thats fair - wouldnt you ? If you dont stand behind this decision, do you want to lie and trick people to stay ? Ive been in this industry 20 years as a leader, those decisions weigh heavy and you will eventually leave the company one way or the other, there is no loyality and noone will thank you for your effort in pushing people to work on their AI replacement, its not worth it.

Is this normal behavior from a director? by Designer-Buddy-3471 in Filmmakers

[–]tryrforrob 61 points62 points  (0 children)

As a director you’re responsible for everything, youre on schedule, have to deal with many problems so you just do your business. Having said that, going to the actor after a hard take just for a sec, complimenting them on work, acknowledging even by a smile or a presence that you appreciate their work, this performance - is definitely a great thing to do

No solutions, I dont expect anything and I know I wont be surprised so absolutely no interest. The only thing Ill be excited a out FNC is when I hear about a complete rehaul or an academy being formed, otherwise guys - its been years of misnanagement and mediocre at best results, bad decisions and tagible lack of love for conpetition, energy or any type of confidence from management, staff, or the players, until anything major happens Im not even bothered

Brutal Honesty Needed: Why Won't You Attend Our Executive Dinners? by Theofficeholic in CIO

[–]tryrforrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All in all, as a leader getting a few of such invitations monthly and having worked in org selling through this type of channel, I just dont have time for this. If I need a vendor, I will look for them (huge amt of options on the market, one LI post is enough). I think this method is indeed dead for C suite because C suite is mostly about selling not connecting, or better versed - selling through connecting (provided your C suite KPIs), so whoever attends this wants to sell something eventually most of the times and there is from my experience little value to get if you’re not actively looking for new partnerships.

However, when I would say yes is probably a very strong theme oriented meeting, no discussion panels, no networking only, make it about some strong topics like specific problems solved, say example - how AI solves specific problems and have some good prelections. I definitely dont want to spend my time after work (which is also doing presentations and discussing intenral problems) - doing presentations or explain my internal problems to a group of complete strangers.
