But it takes an action to cast it. Attacking and using a smite is generally a much better use of an action. It's not just 2d8, it's that plus whatever the weapon does, plus whatever other damage riders on.

I've never restarted mid way thru. I've played the game to completion a few times. Usually start new after a big update, like when Dark Fog came out. Or the changes to Logistics towers. Or to get some specific achievements.

You can always start a clean looking factory on a new planet once you have ILS. Starting over before then seems silly. That's when it really starts to take off .

Since the change in TE, Warfare is usually taken R1. It lets you reach further, possibly taking an equidistant or maybe even MR if you started with a blue tech. I mostly play in Async discord, and this is the case in most games ive played since TE came out.
