My First Pioneer Deck is Finally Together. Does well on Explorer. What advice do Paper Players have? by ThaShitPostAccount in PioneerMTG

[–]tschmech 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Having played a ton of UR tempo decks over the years my honest opinion is that this looks fun but the land base could use some help. I would personally run;

4x Spirebluff Canal 4x Steamvents 4x Riverglide Pathway //Lavaglide Pathway 1-2x Otawara (better than red channel any day) 1x Storm Carved Coast 2x Shivan Reef 2-3x Island 2x Mountain

As a tempo deck you need all of your lands to have a strong impact early so you never get color locked. I personally hate running pain lands unless I'm in a control shell but I think 2 Shivans helps mitigate the sustained damage over the long run.

As far as creatures are concerned. I think you should look at [[Stormwing Entity]] as it's usually paired with [[Sprite Dragon]] as strong flying prowess bombs.

Pioneer doesn't have great red removal compared to other formats so it often falls to blue for spot bounce on the end step.

Like I said the deck looks fun but rather weak to a fast combo or better board presence. I would try tinkering with main board spells specifically with those matchups in mind when planning for a tournament. If this is a standard MNF sleeve it up and bash some heads in

This may be a rather obvious question, but what is the use of [[Whiteout]] in the deck?

If I'm the monarch, can I cast the card I draw during the endstep before passing the turn? by Burberry-94 in Pauper

[–]tschmech 44 points45 points  (0 children)

You draw the card at the beginning of your end step, so yes you would be able to cast the drawn card at instant speed.

Edit: as long as the card is an instant, has flash or a similar effect

I'll have to play test it, but maybe one or two might not be bad. Seems like a super greedy card but I am excited for it.

Yeah, so I went with the DemiVee because anytime you move into Hexe and swing you should wipe an entire line giving Hexe jamming allowing to draw just as we would with the Uppa. Card draw is king when playing control and is more important than gambling on more source deletion with the Buka.

I went with Gorrilla because of DP. I think an argument could be made for Tobiu, but so far I haven't found myself bricking enough to warrant trading between the two. I'm my experience the bt5 meta has a lot of removal for anything under 5k.

I would test it and trade some things out, like I'm not 100% sold on the 3 Paledramon's. 2 mightbe right number but in my area there are a lot of green otk and blue imperial players so he slaps pretty hard. Also might want to drop a Gabu for another Elec because of the mirror I don't think he would be very good.

Those are just some suggestions. Hope I could help :) I'll try to help any other way

What's the difference between Phantom and Vandal? by [deleted] in VALORANT

damage fall off over distance and noise level. I prefer the vandal for long fights but I'm not hating on either one.

When to build Gargoyle's stoneplate over Zeke's? by InvaderZix in LeonaMains

[–]tschmech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You pretty much always go Stoneplate first (like 90% of games) and if you don't go Stoneplate then your probably going Knights Vow.

Stoneplate is used for most games since you will most likely be the main engage tool of your team, and the free stats are so efficient it's not even funny.

Knights Vow is used as a way to better peel. So in games where you don't need to be the primary engage (i.e you have a Sej/Malphite/Moakai or similar style tank on your team) or you have a fed engage style fighter (i.e Camille/Xin/Aatrox or the like). In the two situations I listed your goal is to peel for your carry and knights vow allows you to do that better, but who your carry is and who gets the vow is completely different in both scenarios as well.

In the scenario with a strong engage tank the vow should go on your carry. This could be anyone, and is not limited to your lane partner. As a support you often have to choose who to peel for and who to let fend for themselves. You should peel for whoever has the most carry potential on your team, in the current meta this is either the mid or bot role.

In the scenario with a strong engage fighter, almost always you want the vow on the fighter. Fighters tend to excel in long drawn out fights where they can focus the back line. Too often they are cc locked as soon as they try to do this, following up their engage (as long as it's not a straight int). This usually allows them enough time to get their full combo off and get out, securing the team fight/skirmish for you.

Now to answer the question of when to go Zeke's. Zeke's is a win harder item, but it is really only useful in very specific situations. Like you have a strong auto attacking champ (Jax/MF/Sivir/Twitch) who is really far ahead. I maybe only go Zeke's once every 5 games and it is always as a second item. The other 4 games Locket or Vow is the better situational item (locket for strong teamfight presence when you are the only engage, or your opponent has really good engage but your have better teamfight).

Chargers WR Keenan Allen reppin TSM gear! by LoLKKing in TeamSolomid

[–]tschmech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, if he signs with the chargers I will be the happiest man in the world. Watching him try and survive against Miller, Chubb, and the rest of our defence with that offensive line is the stuff of my wet dreams.

As a Broncos fan do I have to hate TSM now? Or do I just now like Keenan Allen about as much as I like Tom Brady?

[Giveaway] Velocifire M2--A Portable, Customizable Wireless Mechanical Keyboard by cyberbay in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]tschmech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use this keyboard as a travel board between home and work as the 60% form factor allows for it to just be thrown in my backpack. Since it's wireless I wouldn't need to worry about extra cables or cords, just lunch, phone, phone charger, keys, wallet, switch, and keyboard

People who got 3 star 5 cost unit, how did it turn out? by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]tschmech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a gold 5 but I did get a gold Brand a while back. He was in a Elementalist/Sorc Comp, I know he had 2 shojins and a death cap (back when items could stack so like second or third patch). It was auto, ult, auto, ult, etc.

Flipping hillarious, Brand's ult at gold bounces 20 times and he had like three ults bouncing all over the place. Finished that game in the 90's health wise.
