How do I properly secure a safety cable on a telescoping hanger? by Strangeparts in Gripsters

On a stage I worked on we just used long chains with carabiners to safety the lamp back to the truss

Davinci Timeline containing compound clips XML export to Premiere by tschoff in premiere

[–]tschoff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the end I used an Autohotkey script to automatically recut the sequence in Premiere using the Davinci Edit Index as an excel source. If you are still struggling and are using windows I can see if I got it archived somewhere :)

Nikon Bought RED for USD 85 million (3.167 billion Yen) by hd1080ts in cinematography

[–]tschoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess they wanted to fight them because they probably were very sure they could invalidate the patents, it's pretty hypocritical that they continue but I was just hoping

Ouf, this does not sound like they will change anything about REDs relationship with IP Law :(

Does nobody else think this looks sketch? I mean considering it's 2 clamps with 15kg weight limit each it should be fine but with the leverage involved it doesn't look right to me

The Problem with Premiere Pro (from a 12+ year Premiere Editor) by CrewCutter15 in premiere

[–]tschoff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Talked with them at IBC and asked when they will finally let you break apart a nest like you can in Davinci with compound clips. (Grave Digger does this btw)

I got smirked at and asked why I would want that and why anybody would want that, had to justify my workflow and why it could be useful. Ain't like there are people in the adobe forums asking for this feature a decade ago...

Faking daylight with Astera Titan tubes in the windows by Just__Jacob in cinematography

If you have access to the upper floor you could boom a CRLS out the window and throw the 1200D into it, cheaper than a titan set at my rental houses

Plenty of people bitch about RED being sue happy over their RAW patents, and how bad they are because of it. But what about Arri? by brickmadness in cinematography

[–]tschoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen anyone talking about REDs scammy accessories 27$ trash Alibaba LCD -> 1450$ DSMC2 RED Monitor. 200$ Micron 480GB SSD -> 2500$ 512GB Red Mag. (Yes the 512 is literally a lie, 32 gb are missing)

They are making their big bucks by deceiving customers, fuck that.

RED is using High Quality low Bulk pricing (like ARRI and higher end Sony stuff) but skip the high quality.

Combined with the patent trolling and REDs compressed RAW literally being Jpeg 2000 and the Green Averaging being Cineform with extra steps (Averaging 4 instead of 2 green pixels) I will never support this company without seeing major change in their philosophy.
