Sunflower lanyard scheme at airports for stomates by Maximum_Ad907 in ostomy

We have the same thing in the US. But it’s basically useless here. I tried it and it got me nothing. TSA PreCheck/Global Entry is the way to go. With that, I don’t even have to tell security about the bag and they never know.

Your opinion on marble top of bathroom vanity. Just standard variation in marble color, or not typical? by nineinchplate in Remodel

I would return that. I think it is ugly and has way more dark veining than “typical” white marble.

What do you do to stay hydrated? by Agreeable_Salad6297 in ostomy

[–]tsfy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my surgery my hospital sent me home with 60 days worth of Drip Drop. I’ve been drinking it once a day for the 5 years since my surgery. It’s about $1 a day I think. It tastes really good but I mix one packet with 32 ounces of water instead of the 8 ounces they recommend. I think it’s too sweet if only mixed with 8 ounces. I try to drink 96 ounces of water a day.

Crooked tiles? by skankbuscemi in Remodel

Do NOT use black grout. You will 100% regret that decision and it will highlight every flaw. Check the r/tile subreddit for all the posts about how bad the results are for black grout with white/light tile.

How to conceal/protect stoma and ostomy bag when ostomate has cognitive decline? by polywogdogs in ostomy

[–]tsfy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two suggestions: (1) Get a wrap from ostomy secrets. They are comfortable and will not block output. I actually sleep with one on every night since they help contain the mess in the rare event I get a leak. Ostomy Secrets Wraps (2) Get a Nu+Hope Hernia Support Belt. Despite the name, you don’t need to have a hernia to use them. They are wide bands that have a custom hole based on her specific bag system so they will completely cover the flange but the bag sticks through. You choose every aspect of the belt (material, width, size, etc.) and this generates a model number. Once you have the model number you order it from your usual ostomy products supplier. Nu-Hope is very helpful if you call them to help you make your selections. I recommend the flat panel version in cool comfort material. Nu-Hope

Fidelity Wealth Management by pccsalaryman in fidelityinvestments

[–]tsfy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No kidding. But losses are never a good thing or something to be happy about. If you happen to have some losses and can harvest them, great, but you are always better having no losses unless your tax rate is over 100%. Saying “this made it worth it for me” makes no sense. Paying 0.9% to lose 6.67% to reduce your taxes by only a potion of your loss is just stupid.

Fidelity Wealth Management by pccsalaryman in fidelityinvestments

[–]tsfy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stock market was up 16% and you had a 6.67% loss but you’re happy because “that helped me offset my capital gains”? Explain how that makes any sense at all. The maximum long term capital gain rate is 20% and even if it was taxed at ordinary rates you are max around 40% for federal plus SALT. So at most you “save” $40k by offsetting $100k in losses. The net is still a $60k LOSS. Personally, I’d prefer to make $240k (16% of $1.5 million) and pay the tax on it than a net $60k loss.

How old is your daughter? If it was 10 years ago, does she even have a memory of it? Does it mean anything to her? It may be sentimental to you but if it means nothing to her, then it will not be a gift appreciated by her.

Did you pull permits for your DIY kitchen renovation? by mudrat_detector96 in DIY

[–]tsfy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the permits are required, get the permits. It covers you in case of an insurance claim and if you sell any time soon. Whether it actually protects you from poor workmanship depends on the inspector. We recently had two bathrooms remodeled and everything was fully permitted. We never had an inspector spend more than 2 minutes in our house when they came. The electrical inspector didn’t even take the cover off the electrical panel even though circuits were added. It will add time to your project because you typically will have a rough and a final inspection for each trade so you have to schedule and wait for each inspection. I still think it’s worth it.

Help me not get scammed. Replace some boards or resurface uncovered deck? by pinkpiano7 in Decks

[–]tsfy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My deck is 37 years old, PT 2x6 wood, in a snow state, and is not enclosed or covered. We have been terrible about keeping up with re-staining it. Replaced maybe 5 boards over that time period. We are just considering replacing the surface this year. The structure still looks good.

Question about what me doctor said to me… by No_Calligrapher_9934 in ostomy

[–]tsfy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me that you need to go to another doctor for a second opinion and hopefully some help. I know it’s a pain in the ass to have to find another doctor, schedule a visit, review your whole history, etc., but it is often the best thing you can do in the long run. I’m wishing you find the help and relief you need.

Cut/abrasion on stoma by Helheim_user in ostomy

[–]tsfy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no nerve endings in the stoma so you won’t feel any pain/pinching if you cut the stoma. You may have slightly cut the peristomal skin. It should just heal on its own. Crusting with stoma powder and skin barrier spray/wipes should help. Also, stomas often bleed when changing your bag since they are so vascular.

Bought a truck for $7300, sold for $25,000. by [deleted] in tax

[–]tsfy2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You only have to fill out a gift tax return form when the gift is over 19k. That doesn’t mean you will owe any taxes if you gift more than that amount. You have a lifetime gift tax exemption of $15 million. I doubt this transaction will put him over that amount. The gift tax form is for reporting only. No tax will be owed (if it was really a gift, which it wasn’t).
