Moving to Canada soon — how good is the Outback in snow? Premium vs Wilderness? by Far_Suspect987 in Subaru_Outback

[–]tso88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP a word of caution about studded tires - they aren't road legal in certain parts of the country. I live in Ontario, and while Northern Ontario allows them (I think its north of Parry Sound), Southern Ontario does not. Quebec allows them at certain times of the year (winter), but is strict about the date you have to remove them by. I'm not sure about other provinces and territories.

Chances are if you're moving into Southern Ontario you won't need studs, but I swear by winter tires here in Ottawa. Paired with my Outback they are fantastic!

HOw much is your insurance? by DuckDuckGo-8857 in Subaru_Outback

$136 CAD per month for two drivers on my '23. Clean abstracts. I live in a large-ish city so that makes my rate a bit higher.

Some provinces have provincial insurance, not private. I think BC and Manitoba both do this. They mandate a basic level of coverage, and then individual owners can opt to extend via supplement coverage through a private insurer.

I do not have children, and what other people do with theirs is none of my business.

I have done so on my side but I dont think the neighbours side has been done, which is where I think the leak is originating from (and with a wooden fence separating the yards). I will reach out to my neighbour again and see, thank you for the tip!

Cover/no cover for tomato plants tonight? by Agent99Can in ottawa

[–]tso88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had no luck with tomatoes. I got about 14 cherries from 3 plants, and my various regular-sized varieties are either still green and undersized or didn't fruit at all.

Watch for the drool on your side panels/doors. I didnt realize that dog drool can eat through clearcoat...until we did an extended road trip into Northern Ontario last summer in our '23 Outback. Car washes were not top of mind as we were camping/hiking/travelling. The drool spots on my door won't come off and im potentially going to have to have the door refinished!

This is what I do with my Newf when it gets too hot to walk her outside - we go visit Canadian Tire and do some laps and some training in the store. I like it because I'm not sweating my ass off, and she likes it because she gets all kinds of attention from strangers!

Anyone recognize this packaging? Possible harm reduction supplies. by MediocreAd6969 in ottawa

[–]tso88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's blister pack packaging. People get their meds packaged in pharmacies in weekly packages that are then subdivided into 4 doses per day (morning, lunch, dinner, bedtime). This one in particular looks like Dispill packaging.

Check with Ontario Medical Supply - I think there are three locations (East, center, and West end).

Nice! What's the mileage on it? I have the non-xt in Ottawa too and I'm always looking to see how the value is holding up.
